Really! What is pwned?

It means "OWNED"....as in, "you just got owned".

BTW, I did a little bit of digging and found the official announcement Hot Toys made regarding their alien figure:

"To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the ALIEN movie (1979), we have been invested a very long time to develop the best 1/6th scale Alien collectible which you never had. Another great job done by our talented artist - Joseph Tsang after AVP She Predator and Alien Bust projects, this collectible perfectly captured the first appearance of the Big Chap Alien in the movie. If you are looking for a replica of Giger’s work, this is the one! Don’t miss any chance to get this worthiest Alien collectible while you can".

For other uses, see PWN.
Pwn (below: Various pronunciations) is a leetspeak slang term derived from the verb "own",[1][2][3] as meaning to appropriate or to conquer to gain ownership. The term implies domination or humiliation of a rival,[4] used primarily in the Internet gaming culture to taunt an opponent who has just been soundly defeated (e.g., "You just got pwned!").[5] It was popular among Counter-Strike gamers before spreading through the more general Internet world.[6] The past tense and past participle, pwned, may also be spelled: pwnd, pwn'd, pwn3d, pwnt, poned, pawned, or powned.

What was "THE" Alien? Was there ever a "THE" Alien. I've seen LOTS of pictures that show lots of versions of "THE" Alien costume/props. None of them the same from different angles.OWNED +1 :lol

Re: UPDATED! Hot Toys - MMS 106 - Alien - BIG CHAP collectible figure

Anyone else in favour of removing "UPDATED!" from the thread title for the time being until there actually is a new update?

Re: UPDATED! Hot Toys - MMS 106 - Alien - BIG CHAP collectible figure

Maybe there not finished ?. :dunno
They've always been crappy with alien though , even if I had read that I still wouldn't have expected much personally.

I didn't expect much, they said it with the posting of their official photos, to me they sounded arrogant because, maybe not the exact same size, there are better, more accurrate figures out there and for them to say that and not have the best was bold and stupid, they set themselves up for criticism. Had they just made this figure the way they did and not said it, people might be less harsh on them, but them saying "We did it!" opens up for those who disagree to come back with "No you didn't!"

That was posted back when the small updates were done, but it can be removed.

I would like to see a full body photo (from more than one angle) of "The Alien" that the 'naysayers' are claiming that Hot Toys can't create... :rotfl Where is "THE Alien"... :rotfl

Yep. Sabes wins this thread.

And really, its not even little tiny details I care about...the whole freaking mouth is something completly different. It looks nothing like the Alien. And the worst part is....thats the only part of the Alien that was clearly shown!

Enjoy.

If you can find a pic in there that looks like the HT Alien...please point it out.

Otherwise... :rotfl

Hot Toys are armatures... I've been owned... WOOF, WOOF...Blah, blah...The figure isn't even out...blah, blah... Lets wait and see...blah, blah...facts...blah, blah, blah... :rotfl

Yep, a bunch of grainy photos on photobucket is all the 'proof' required... Show me a matching set of photos that depicts all the details of "THE one and only Alien" that you think should be carved in stone... :rotfl It's not an argument, I just haven't seen any...

I don't really want to get into this debate, as it really just boils down to personal preference, but there are clear instances in the film where you see the head and mouth in particular, so at the very least one can say that the Hot Toys version does not look correct.

As for the body, sure there were multiple suits used. But seeing as Hot Toys themselves are claiming this to be the ultimate representation of Giger's creation, the least they could do is pick the Bolaji Badayo suit and base it on that (as opposed to the stunt suit, Rambaldi head etc), since there are tonnes of reference photos.

What we've got so far is a disappointing "version" of the creature, which claims to be accurate, but isn't.

off topic- The word 'pwned' actually first originated in the pc game Warcraft. When you played against the computer and lost was supposed to say " *username* has been owned" but the map designer spelled it wrong so it said 'pwned' and it just stuck with gamers.:lol

The other accepted origin is that when people went to type 'owned', 'p' was accidentally pressed instead of 'o', resulting in 'pwned'. It's kind of like how 'ZOMG' is because the 'z' was pressed while attempting to press the 'shift' key to spell 'OMG'.

Anyway, back to ALIEN..................:lol

Nice to have those little back stories, every time I see pwned typed out, I think what idiot came up with this, it makes no sense.

I actually asked about "pwned" awhile back... I understood its meaning, but was still scratching my head as to why anybody would use it :lol

And I still scratch to this day.

As for the Alien, certainly not perfect... but I will gladly have it in my collection to finish out the Aliens. I might get a Resurrection version if its made, but that would probably be it.

Still hoping for a Queen, but that just seems unlikely these days.
