No crazy poses or anything yet but you guys gotta get yourself one of these custom stands from Cocoboloboy’s Etsy shop:

I’m passing this figure off as a Robocop 1 figure.. but the way the stand fits under the crotch is 👌🏼lol

So i hear from other collectors that say aerospace 303 protectant is good for preserving and protecting rubber on figures. The guy said he used on his ed 209 to prevent cracking. How would i use it on robocop? Like spray some on q-tips or something? Never used this stuff before.

Basically. If you want to get into even smaller spaces, you can use a toothpick with a tiny bit of tissue that way. It won't hurt it if you get it on painted parts, just wipe it off since it's a smooth surface, and it's not going to damage it. I don't think it will at least, it doesn't contain silicon which is bad for rubber, and not strong enough to etch paint or something.

Yeah I've never shopped with them but I'm close to NYC but in a different state so no sales tax either. I'll have to keep an eye on them for some pieces for sure.

So, since I ended up buying this new Robocop figure, I decided to airbrush a few light coats of clear black/smoke to tone down the factory paint on my OG Robocop. Well, that didn't turn out like I expected🙄. I went a little too overboard with the clear black/smoke and ended up f***ing it up😅. I knew i was gonna mess it up somehow. Oh well, lesson learned. Less is more when it comes to applying light coats of clear black/smoke.

Anyways, I ended up doing a FULL repaint on my OG Robocop and I'm almost done. Body is done, Just need to finish the helmet. The blue and purple hues are subtle and pop when looking at it from certain angles, so it was a bit challenging taking decent photos. In person it looks great, at least IMO.

Sounds like a “happy accident” that you messed up initially because this is looking incredible!

Thanks man🍻. I was trying to avoid a full repaint because, at the time, I didn't feel like going through the whole process of removing the factory paint, sanding, primering, etc. It's a learning experience, so it's all good. It's been a while since my last repaint project, so I actually enjoyed doing this one.

Hey Texasf3nd! I applaud you for giving the repaint a go, it looks great! I was wondering about the transparent black/smoke as I think it's what Darkspidey did with his repaints. I just can't summon the courage to do it with mine. I'm not sure where to spray the coats, in the recesses? In a general sweep across the chest sections and panels? I guess I'm going to have to purchase another and experiment first.

This. Easiest way I can explain it is to literally mist the clear paint from about 8-10 inches away from the part being painted. Keep a consistent pace as you sweep the airbrush in either direction to ensure an even coat.

oh yeah, take into consideration the kind of lighting in your airbrushing area. My airbrush booth has really bright LED lights which was the reason why i over did it with the clear smoke coats. Under those bright lights the coats looked fine but under normal lighting, it was wayyy too dark🤦‍♂️.

Perfect, thanks TexasFi3nd! It all sounds a bit like the process for painting the really expensive Millennium Falcon model kits. The paint needs to be applied evenly and in very, very lights coats. Even allowing a day to let it dry and then re-examining it in good daylight when it has cured.

This release is a pretty good re-do for the Robocop 1 color scheme. Still a bit bright, but obviously people are a lot happier this time around.

I'm still really hoping we get the blue Robo 2 scheme in the future. Maybe with a robocain-inspired diorama base. I love that color scheme.

No need. Use Tamiya Acrylics, and if you don't like the end result, simply spray it with Windex (the blue one), and the acrylic paint will simply dissolve, with no harm to the underlying factory paintjob.

Great tip, thank you Mr Walker. I recall there is a Tamiya Smoke which could be ideal for darkening down the silver of the armour.

Good job 👍

Hey good news. Having compared the new internal joint mechanism for the arms/neck, it looks like HT is using a bigger beefier plastic. Even though it's clear, it appears much thicker and less transparent, even the neck joint. Hopefully this prevents all the cracking problems seen on the earlier version.
