Gina Carano was warned numerous times by her employer, you know the people who pay you, to stop and she ignored it.

She knew she was dealing with a hypocritical double standard corporation that is called Hollywood yet she continued so her outcome was the only outcome she decided to fall on that sword. I liked her in that role she was also hot lol and I do miss seeing her but now move on and hire another thick sexy MMA fighter for the damn part already.

But, but what gets me is she was basically canned for being feisty - the very reason she was hired, more or less. She's a fighter. I think actors should stay off Twitter, and especially think folks at Lucasfilm should shut up - IMO they are technicians, not frontline people. I may or may not even agree with what she's said.

But at the end of the day, for me her absence is a stain on the show. And for me a lot of Season 2 had issues. But I felt a lot better after the Mando episode in BOBF😁.
.

She was absolutely not hired for being feisty or a fighter. She was hired as an actor to act in the role they created for the show. A good actor can be feisty and can be a fighter. But a feisty fighter may not be a good actor. They thought she could perform to their expectations, but it's all make-believe.

This is ultimately old news. She was written out because she was a moron who was told, repeatedly, that what she was saying didn't align with the company's values. She can have "her opinion", but many of those opinions were offensive, wildly inappropriate, and outright disconnected from reality, and the freedom to say what you want doesn't prevent you from facing consequences. She's still free to say her nonsense, and Lucasfilm was free to show her the door when she violated the terms of her contract.

And it sucks for a variety of reasons, sure. I still think she's gorgeous and has a physique we need to see more of in mainstream media. She was touted as a strong female character - and many insecure incels hated her for it - and the character is a strong character, even if the actress was subpar at best - and those same people who once hated her suddenly started to support her...

But I don't think she's beyond a recast. Marvel's recast War Machine, The Hulk, Red Skull, Thanos, Cassie Lang, Fandral, etc. I wasn't exactly crying when Katie Holmes was replaced in The Dark Knight. Who even remembers that Brian Cox was Hannibal before Silence of the Lambs? Ultimately, what matters is a good performance to bring a good character to life in a good series or movie.

But as much as I liked Cara Dune as a character, and once liked Gina (she was my fan-pick for She-Hulk back in the day), she contributed no lasting impact on the show and as a character was so inconsequential that she was so easily written out that Poochie would be impressed. Gina can slum it with Kevin Sorbo in low-budget films about evil scary woke people; I expect Cara Dune will show up again without her, either in the comics or under another performer's expertise.

Yeah, I think the only times actors & actresses should speak in public is when they're doing their jobs (reciting words from a script), or talking about doing their jobs (i.e., promoting their latest movie or TV role). Other than that just shut the hell up. :lol

OK, so yeah... planet full of Fetts.

Was the Fett family anybody on Mandalore?
In Canon all we really know is that Jango is from Concord Dawn (A Mandalorian colony) and was trained as a Mandalorian foundling. The Mandalorian government claimed they had nothing to do with him and he was simply just a bounty hunter wearing stolen armour, but this was at a time where Mandalore had become peaceful.

40ish seconds in he's mentioned here.

She was absolutely not hired for being feisty or a fighter.

Literally everything Carano has done is about beating people up or shooting people on camera. Unless you want to wash that all away because she didn't put Bear Grylls in a headlock.

She literally only exists in movies and film because she has a real life history as a fighter and all her roles want to highlight her ability to fight / shoot / kill / do battle / be a physical threat.

So she can't do what she did (and you even go to the lengths of showing your own personal bias by saying what you said above), but Pedro can post this and have no consequences?

I couldn't give a **** one way or another as I find humanity generally a lost cause these days; our clear lack of emotional maturity on social media/internet is going to be our downfall - but the hypocrisy is mind blowing.

I'm not touching this. The mods have done a clean sweep here before. They probably should again. This isn't why I'm here. It's been explained many times why this is not equivalent, and exactly why Gina's gone and Pedro's thriving.

Well. I don't want to crash the party, so I'll be brief. I know I'll be in the small minority here...

That was awful. Looked rushed, cheesy effects, badly staged action. Choppy script. I actually checked the time during the episode...for those who are concerned it's only 30 minutes, fear not...it's the longest 30 minutes you'll spend. But Grogu is ADORABLE.

Mando talks too much and it's mostly to explain things. The forced Marvel-like humor was terrible. Navarro has morphed into Galleria's Edge. The Frick people were pure cringe. But Grogu is ADORABLE. The IG side story was insufferably WTF. The pirates looked like they were wearing Don Post masks (no insult to Don Post meant) and the lead one looked and sounded like he came from Galaxy Quest (a MUCH BETTER movie). Everything just felt route and forced. The Fav-Fil group is going to totally embrace the cartoons. Ok. So much for creating something new and different. Easier to just coast and produce content. But Grogu is ADORABLE.

It's only one episode in so far, but...it looks like Mando has gone full Disney Channel kid's show here. The first season may have been the best after all.
I'll wait till a few more drop to watch any more. I get it that there is an audience for this and it's now the Disney Star Wars flagship. And if that's the case, I'll pass. It's a topsy-turvy galaxy indeed when I actually LIKED the cartoon this week (Bad Batch) better than the flagship show.

Did I mention Grogu is ADORABLE?

ADORABLE.
So, is Grogu adorable? I couldn't tell from your post :monkey3

:lol

And yet, who was the one that had a multi-paragraph rant?

Don't want to discuss it? Not why you're here? Yet couldn't keep your vehement opinion to yourself and out of the thread.

Good job :ROFLMAO:

Yep. I disappointed in the circumstances, and I'll gladly say why, but I'm not here to debate the irrational nature of politics here. Let me be clear; I would prefer everything had gone better and she was still in the role. I really liked her and advocated for her to get bigger roles years before Mandalorian came along. It is what it is. I've said my piece. If you've said yours, there's nothing really further to discuss, is there? I have a suspicion neither of us is going to go "oh, heavens to Betsy, I've seen the error of my way and the scales have fallen from my eyes! Thank you, kind stranger, for rousing me from this waking slumber!"

So the polite thing to do is, well, move on and talk about what we do have. How 'bout that Mando, everyone?

Anyone see IGN's review score for episode 2? They decided to give it a 5/10, due to brightness issues.
Now I know that IGN isn't exactly relevant in any way, shape or form, but man did they get some crazy backlash from the fans. Entertaining stuff. lol
They later changed it back up to a 7/10 for some reason.

I’m easily pleased when it comes this series, so the stakes are pretty low for me. My extremely basic checklist is as follows…
Did it have some nice visuals/designs?
Did it have a sense of adventure and a clear story?
Could I understand the motivation and the actions taken by the characters?
Was Mando cool?
Was Grogu cute?
Did I enjoy watching it with my kids?
Boba Fett wasn’t in it?
Does the soundtrack and theme still rock?
Awesome…I’ll see you next Wednesday🙂
