The points dont carry over year after year anymore (at sideshow) anyway so that helps.

I see so many posts on here of people canceling and losing NRD, but I dont understand why anyone preorders these anymore in the first place.

The odd thing is, figures I havent preordered by the time they release I feel like I dont really need them anyway. Its 180 degrees from me 10 or 15 years ago.
Yeah I agree. Im surprised people still PO Hot Toys. I see a bunch of them being discounted in Sideshow. I get some figures might go OOS quick but its far and few in between.

I like how it looks but I wish it came with the Goblin mask as well as the good and Norman sculpt.

There should have just been two Goblin releases. One standard Goblin with both looks and without the glider and the other with both looks and the glider. It’s not like they’re adding a lot extra with this version.

I don’t really collect much from the MCU anyways. Thinking about the Maguire Spider-Man but not sure if I’ll get a villain to pair with him.

I am getting this one...and putting the masked Goblin head on for the ultimate look.

Sorry :p
Yeah that has been my plan since Hot Toys announced the other version bk when that was announced I knew this version was inevitable. I wonder if a parted out masked Goblin head will be hard to acquire.

A lot of people in this thread seem confused by people still preordering.

I don’t rely on Sideshow for primary orders. I go through independent licensed distributors. They have finite allocations from Sideshow. I save more through them then waiting for Sideshow to have a coupon and a sale on shipping.

I ordered this and canceled my previous Goblin order at the loss of the NRD. This is the one I wanted, and shame on me for letting Hot Toys bait me with the first release.

I know some think the new waitlisting of items during preorder is a ploy, but no company wants to sit on inventory they have to regularly discount so deeply. Too many collectors now have the mentality of grabbing things at 10% off (or more) as soon as it hits stock. Keep in mind that the overage orders are based on a percentage of preorders. If preorders have nosedived, so has the extra stock levels. Even if Sideshow has only modestly changed their formula to reduce extra stock, that combined with vastly fewer preorders could equal some very short runs of some upcoming figures. People should be cautious about what they are willing to miss out on.
Like the iron man mark V right?

Wouldn’t say confused….more so there is not much point as rarely do hot toys sell out with initial releases these days…..
collectors can wait and see the final product quality rather than put up money upfront…

The issue isn‘t about releases happening today. Today we’re in a heyday of heavily available discounts. The issue is making an educated guess about the availability of similar levels of discounts in 2024. Retailers are not happy that so many are viewing the product as a discount product. I am behaving in a way that bets the distribution makes course corrections. You guys are betting that distribution decides to continue to hemorrhage money with unprecedented discounts two years out from now. We’ll see who’s bet is right come 2024.

It seems like to me it applies on certain figures like Kate bishop is on already on waitlist. It happened to shuri also years ago on sideshow ,sold in one day. I have /had both on preorder ! I use sideshow on half of my figures ,do to my reward points.

These hexagonal bases are just so tacky, classless and cheap.
It’s like HT have fully leant into the character/logo design style stands that are all over eBay.
You’d think $400 would pay for something… more.

I’m a big fan of diorama style bases/ slices of a scene that enhance and add to a display so something like this statue would be fun in a less cartoonish style. So dynamic

Or this brilliant combination of SooSoo’s thruster effects paired with Mysterio’s green mist for a more subtle flight pose

Chuck the cheap flight stand in as well but offer a proper deluxe package that utilises every opportunity to create a great display piece.

For me it's more about taking advantage of the various discounts that stores have early on. I could preorder this for $386 shipped now and have it locked in, or wait and scramble around to find a deal when it releases, and likely have to pay more in shipping and taxes and who knows what.

Maybe some here have great luck at doing things that way, but I certainly don't. And I don't want to wait 3 or 4 months for a possible discount from TBA or Toys Wonderland. And Sideshow is never an option for those of us in CA.

Agreed tenfold! I wish they'd do more diorama bases, though it seems we're getting that on a select number of them (BA, CV, DOFPW, Mark 46 rerelease, zombie IM to name a few). I think Cobb Vanth's style of base is perfect for these, not too big, but a nice slice of an environment.
