Found some brown fabric in the house and did a quick pair of "balloon" pants for the Captain.

OK, here is the modifications using the new coat. Just keep in mind that when you remove the cuffs to sew the arm slits open, it will be slightly short, so the extra length will need to come from the new cuffs.
I'll see if I can add the extra pleating design in the back to get it close to the real costume design.
This is the coat without the wires, so I had to put a clip on it at the back since it would have looked too baggy.
I ordered some new fabric transfer paper so I can print the design, so that should come in this evening.
I'll also sew new cuffs and add the trims to this coat just so I can see a completed coat. This would have saved me a lot of time if I knew about these coats earlier
But, I did have fun re-learning how to sew and I learned a lot of new techniques.

I'm so eager to see how this German coat works out. But I'm still jealous of your Bahama material and itching to give that a try. Can't wait to see your finished coat... or coats.

The transfer paper didn't come in today, so I decided to work on the hat a bit. I found some small buckles that I purchased years back for another project and dirtied it up and added a brown leather band. I also added a couple of other feathers on Barbossa's hat and tried to hide the thick quill area of the original feather with a thinner quilled feather that my wife had. Probably will never notice the buckle and band since the hat brim is so huge, but I thought it would be a nice touch.

I finally finished the design of the vest fabric and below is a test of a more accurate vest. I'll be making the final vest a bit longer. I did say I have OCD, right plus recovering from surgery and having some free time helps as well.

Yeah, got carried away, but again, this figure was a great base to get the creative juices flowing. The whole fabric transfer idea was a game changer.

I received the new transfer sheets and I don't like this brand as much as the old ones I had.
I tried it on the lighter coat and I don't care for the results. It got too dark and it was too difficult to get an even heat around bends like shoulders and under the arms so the transfer couldn't stick well. I don't think this method works with an already sewn coat. It also adds a bit of thickness, making it a bit rigid as a coat.
The transfer works great on the waistcoat though since it was made from scratch.

Since the iron wasn't working well for the transfers, I had to dust off the heat press machine and it worked out perfectly. It's not too dark and has a nice sheen and the details still comes through. I can't wait to see this made as a coat. The vest fabric came out nicely as well and not as shiny as the last one which was ideal. I also attached a closeup of the detail I made which matches close enough to the real deal.

Going on vacation for a week, so probably won't have updates for a while, but I have sewn the coat and just need to get the sleeves and trims on. I'm also going to be making the new vest and I printed up some buttons to go with it.

WHOA! Thought the transfer was dead... but dead transfers tell no tales. Look forward to a full shot.

GeeWhiz just finished their custom outfit. Shudder to think how much they charged, but some interesting choices and future inspiration for modding the stock figure.

They also wired the coat.

Sadly not though I'm in the UK have a private seamstress.

Geewhizz is OK but looking at $590 + for their set. Their fabric for the coat is a bit bulky also.

I'm not surprised in the least. I agree with it looking bulky and I'm not keen on some of the stitching.
