Hmm, if that's the case you'd think they would deflect before actually smashing into him.

Maybe he was using the force to mend his suit and heal his pulverised living tissue in real time? :dunno
Obviously some got through, but its not like he got hit directly with 50 boulders

Yup, bit of a force force neophyte.

It's not like within seconds he can pull a massive spaceship down from the sky then tear chunks off of it the size of shipping containers, all with his mind.

Did anybody Notice in the MRC Collectibles video that vaders belt boxes appear to be wired. So I assume that means they are USB as well, not pill batteries.
I believe these figures are the start of HT's movement away from button batteries as several countries are bringing in very stringent restrcitions around buttons. It would see HT products that contain them not allowed to be imported unless ridiculously rigorous design and testing hurdles were met.

To anyone who has pulled leaking batteries out of a figure (that they forgot were in there when they bought the fig 5-7 years earlier) this change can't come too soon.

Also often the changing of button batteries is a total pain (not to mention the activation switches are often clumsily positioned) for example saber arms where to access compartment you have to pull up the gauntlet, slide the sleeve, turn the hand then use the micro screwdriver, all as the figure's pose is ruined.

Any head stand can be 3D printed with no problems. I wouldn’t be concerned about that, however that’s a great idea.

Any confidence this head will attach the same as previous HT Vaders? If so, I'd just need to know the adapter type and dimensions to start working on something.

I POd Robocop and basic Tobey Spidey. I'm debating whether I should PO this Vader. Is it good "definitive" Vader if I'm planning to own just ONE 1/6 Vader figure or should I keep waiting? There's something about this particular Vader that really gets my attention.

To finally answer your question... I wouldn't say this is the "definitive Vader". It's cool. A neat look. But far from definitive. Definitely eye-popping on the shelf though.

The definitive Vader has not been manufactured yet.

Describe it for me, accessories and all, please. :) I'm assuming it has to be from the OT? Maybe ESB or ANH.

It should look like Vader.

OT is my preference, as it is the original iteration of Darth Vader... but a momentarily damaged Vader doesn't measure up to how he is presented in the other 99% of material.

The advantage to this piece is that you get both the Mask and the Man under it -- you get an amalgamation of the OT and PT in one figure. To me, that is the true beauty of this piece.

It's just a re-use of previous HT Vader parts even including helmet and facemask sculpt. :dunno Not sure why anyone would think this was a definitive Vader.

It does have the gimmick of the Peekaboo-Ani helmet but who knows how that duel (and this show) will age over time, especially given there will almost certainly be a S2 of the show which will feature yet more dueling. That means who knows what's next: exposed robot arms/legs damged Vader, helmetless-duel Vader - they are clearly milking Vader for all he's worth in this show (I've lost count of the number of levitatings and force chokes,) so who knows what merch-focused fan service eye candy awaits.

Disney has broken the "You never go full Vader" rule so what that means for Vader merch in the next five years is anyone's guess.

Well, I have 15 days to decide. I thought about season 2 and the inevitable ROTJ version, along with any other anniversary edition of ANH and ESB. It sounds never ending with no definitive version in sight, just updated stuff with cool gimmicks and accessories. This is why I stay away from the SW and MCU 1/6 scale stuff. It'll never end.

I think the USB lighting is of particular interest compared to previous Vaders. Should make it easier to dispay lit, which hasn't been a realistic option before with all those batteries and switches. And with the version that comes with additional standard clean parts, it can serve as both a fresh and a damaged display. The OWK armor itself is also a bit of a hybrid between ANH style and ESB/RotJ styles, making it a sort of amalgam of past Vader appearances, a middle point between existing Vaders. Not to mention the exposed face sculpt which also acknowledges Anakin underneath.

So as a figure that sort of represents all of Vader's history in one way or another, it's seemingly not a bad choice. But it depends on what you like. Would you prefer a Vader that strongly invokes one distinctive point in time, like a future RotJ Vader perhaps, or a Vader like this that is created to be more of a broad amalgam?

Many would consider a RotJ Vader with an unmasked head sculpt option to be the dream Vader. I don't think Hot Toys has released one in 1/6 yet. But it just depends on your preference. Personally I like the option of the battle damaged helmet, because it's a way to show both the face and the helmet simultaneously, rather than having to choose one or the other like you would with a RotJ Vader.
