Lots of interesting opinions going on and I can't wait to see the movie tomorrow. I might get this guy if I enjoy the movke but for now can't wait to get the Dx19 in a few months hopefully
We should be getting it any day now I feel like. I hope it shows up on time. Will make waiting on The Batman figure a bit easier.

The figure they used to solicit it felt very prototype-ish. I wonder if it will see any improvements.

Messier hair is definitely needed here. It would be nice if they changed it before release, but they won’t.

If JND really is doing a 1/6 figure I’ll probably wait to preorder this until that is shown and decide - but personally I think Hot Toys will be the better value.

The only thing I’m not too jazzed about, which plagues all figures with PERS, is the big eyes. I kinda wish they would’ve done swappable eye plates like they did for Batfleck. His eyes looked pretty relaxed for a lot of the movie. He does look great regardless though - just a nitpick.

Lol! I remember watching TDKR in the theaters. When Bale said that "Where is it?" line and sounding so similar to TDK "Where is she?", a bunch of us started laughing at it.
Lol the whole movie was laughable. Absolutely hated it. I don’t care it’s probably the worst Batman I’ve ever seen. Absolutely despise it

Yeah I can’t stand Dark Knight Rises. The best part was Alfred crying at the end.

Hardy’s Bane was pretty dope until he started crying and got pew pew’d by Catwoman.

Bale was at his worst. I can’t understand what direction they must’ve given him to act like that - the guy’s a beast but his Batman in Rises is so hard to watch.

I mean it could've been possible for them to do it. If I remember correctly, the broken cowl that Bane came with had little water droplets/spots on it
Yeah they should have just gone ahead and created one extra "Rain-Soaked Version", since that's how he looked in most of the movie anyway. 😄
If they released one as, like, a movie promo edition, I would buy the **** out of that ****.

Weird call out on the "personality" divide since Pattinson's batman and wayne literally act the same. It's wonder how no one figures out who he is.

That's one of the things I liked most about the film.

The fact that his Batman and his Wayne are exactly the same character drives home the point that Batman isn't a persona he adopts, it's just who he is. When he's out in public, he's still this reclusive, unkempt weirdo because he hasn't yet realized that Wayne is the character he needs to learn how to play.

As for nobody figuring out it's him, this is why I love how low-tech all his gear is. Off the shelf police equipment and an old Dodge Charger for a Batmobile means that far more people could potentially be Batman than just the one guy in the city who can afford his own Bat-shaped plane.

Yeah I liked how this Bruce just had no time or energy for play acting as some spoiled rich kid, when he could be using that time to patrol the streets or investigate a murder instead.

And honestly the public playboy persona always seemed a bit silly and counterproductive anyway, with how he's constantly putting himself out there in the public eye. And it's not like Bruce acting like a fool in public is going to make people think he couldn't also be the same nutball running around town at night in a high-tech bat costume. Lol

I think it’s an interesting year 2 starting place for the character but I think the story would be better served long term to see him grow out of that and use his money and power to help people beyond beating up criminals. It seems thats something they’re already foreshadowing.

That theme is why Rises is still my favorite film. I loved seeing that when Gotham no longer needs Batman, Bruce would then devote himself to another noble cause in clean energy. Then when that fails, and he has no more purpose, he gives into his demons and becomes a Howard Hughes style recluse for three years. It’s inspiring to see such a tormented but driven character go through that journey and find a way out of it to be what his city needs him to be.

I’m glad that wasn’t lost on me like it seems to have been for a lot who only want to see the billionaire punching poor criminals part. I hope Reeves has more than that in mind for us too. 😅

I don't see why they wouldn't do The Batman. They still might be a ways away from revealing figures and might want to see how The Batman is received first.
Maybe that explains why Hot Toys went all out on their version ? I mean 3 versions, with moveable eyes, multi adjustable base, standard base and deluxe base, headsculpt and 3 faceplates, wired cape etc etc.

They clearly know competition is coming, which is best for us the consumer.

Although I agree prices will go up, as they also did for The Batman figures.

I just had got an email from SS that my order for Batman (Deluxe) was cancelled by mistake, thankfully my NRD and rewards points where fully refunded. I had to call and make sure it was though, should get the refund back later this week. But as I was adding the figure to my cart again I realized as cool as the deluxe is I'm not really going to use the wing suit, the explosive gun isn't something seen in film so no big deal. Only thing I'd want is the dio but I might just be happy to have him standing next to the batsignal or on the batbike. So I'll probably get the standard to save a bit of money.
That's my strategy as well. If the Bat-bike is released, any saved money with the standard Battinson can go towards the bike.

I also prefer some symmetry with display bases. So don't need the deluxe base either (although not saying it isn't cool).

I'm going back and forth with myself. Lol I really do like the deluxe base as I can probably do the Jim lee art pose. But I don't want to spend almost $490 in total for it. Idk I think I'll pick the standard in the end but seriously the prices on him has shot up considering this figure is most wanted.

I think he will. There will be a balance, whether he plays up the “playboy” persona i don’t know, but he’ll definitely grow. They already planted the seeds of what he needs to be doing.

As Popcultcha finally has the various sets up for preorder. I think I’ll just go for the entire set including Bat Signal as it’s not priced that badly at $648 AUD shipped (about $475 USD).

How'd you get it at $648? That's the price without GST. Did you use pennies to get 10% off?

Yes I think the prototype pics have a case of Thunder thighs 😂
But aside from that everything looks good

This isn’t explicit. Batman could have easily been active for 5-8 years before Rises. By the time of rises he’s no less than 40 at youngest and the ending of Rises is completely open ended so who knows how long he was Batman total.
I thought it was said in the movie when Batman came back it was the first time he'd been seen it eight years.

The chronology of the nolan movies can be confusing because release dates don't necessarily correspond to the story. There's also seemingly conflicting information about how long Bruce was Batman before TDK. It's been officially stated that he was Batman for 5 years before TDK, implying that Begins takes place over the course of 2003 to 2005. But then Joker's like in TDK makes that a bit tricky to reconcile.

Going strictly by what is revealed on-screen in the Nolan movies, it would be easy to assume that Batman was possibly only active 1-2 years before going into hibernation for 8 years, assuming that BB entirely took place within the year it was released. However in the licensed Dark Knight Manual, it stated that he had been Batman for 5 years before TDK. So while TDK takes place entirely in the year it was released (which is confirmed on-screen), BB actually takes over a wider time period than it lets on. And then TDKR takes places years later than its own release date.

He first became Batman in 2003, the events of that movie carry him through 2005, TDK takes place in 2008, then TDKR takes place 8 years later in 2016. He was primarily active between 2003 and 2008. I believe this would make Bruce ~41 when he retired in TDKR.

Regarding Joker's line about how only a year ago nobody would cross the mob, well...maybe it took Batman a few years to run them all off, that's the only explanation that comes to mind. But that's not difficult to believe.

Does the standard version also have the different face plates for the stand? It says "graphic cards" in the description, but they are not on the pictures like for the Deluxe version. I mean those things:

They said eight years ago was the last “confirmed” sighting of the Batman. There are some things that hint he was active though if not confirm it.
- There’s a fully functioning Batcave under Wayne Manor and Alfred says “you haven’t been down here in a long time” implying it was used. It didn’t exist during TDK as far as we know.
- Gordon and Batman had an agreement he would take the fall for Dents death. It would be in Gordon’s interest, as the person at GCPD who would confirm Batman sightings, not to confirm them so the public wouldn’t blame him for not having caught him yet.
- After Batman flies over the police in The Bat Blake says “you sure it was him?” which could hint at a blind eye approach to Batman sightings under Gordon’s leadership.
- The vision of Ra’s in the pit say Bruce spent “years” fighting criminals.

As far as the time between Begins and TDK, it’s not really clear how long he was back in Gotham and working on the Falcone case before the Ra’s plot starts to surface. He could have easily been acting as Batman for a whole year leading up to the events at the narrows. In TDK we have a few clues:
- Joker says wind the clocks back a year, these cops and lawyers wouldn’t dare cross you. Some people take this to mean Batman appeared a year ago, BUT, Jokers next line is “Dent, he’s just the beginning” so I take it to mean Dent has been the legitimate change, inspired by Batman, that is getting the “cops and lawyers” to take action. This means it’s more likely a year ago means Dent’s election and we ultimately don’t know how long Batman has been acting.
- This one is hard to ignore, Gordon’s son has grown from a toddler to a child of maybe 6-8 years old
- Dent and Rachel have not only met and built a relationship but are discussing marriage which seems like it would take more than a year

It’s definitely not explicit how long he was Batman. There’s room in the script to believe he was Batman several years before TDK and then possibly up to 5 years after TDK in secret. Bruce only becomes a recluse 3 years prior to Rises when he shutters the nuclear project. I choose to interpret he was Batman in secret up until this point, then he let his body and mental state decline because he had no more purpose as Batman OR Bruce. This interpretation gives him a good realistic career length and fits within the context of the dialoge. I think Nolan could have done more to hint at his other adventures but it’s there if you look for it IMO.
