Yeah. I read that they were smashing hundreds of years or thousands into all the events happening into essentially the same time to make it convenient for them.

Not much to go off in terms of characters, writing, or performances due to it being focused on imagery, but the imagery looks good. Glad it appears as expensive as it apparently was.

Anyway ,I like Galadriel and Elrond as characters. I'll give it a shot.
Never could get far into the Silmarillion, (is that what this is based on?) so I'm not beholden to the source, loved the world building , but it was to drawn out, hopefully this condenses it some.

to be honest this feels morel ike a video game and an ad for a play station.
feels exactly like a game ad. and the casting is the LEAST thing u notice.
I think I've seen video game ads more epic than this

Visuals looks much better than I expected. Have no idea what the story is about. The key will be giving us well written characters that we actually give a **** about.

Don’t want to be too harsh based on only a minute’s worth of footage (and a few photos)…but on first viewing it seemed very meh to me, nothing memorable in there at all, still I’ll give it go and hope for the best.

It doesn't matter how much money you throw at a project if the story and world you are adapting are not being respected and / or are fundamentally altered to satisfy modern day political sensitivities. That way only leads to it no longer resembling the core and foundations of the source material.
Your in-built fandom / audience is here because they love Tolkien and the world he created, they will reject anything which deviates from that without good reason.
Peter Jackson knew this and played so carefully in that world with his LOTR's trilogy and this is one of the key reasons why it was so successful and generally loved to this day. Those movies in turn have created a generation of fans (ranging from hardcore to casual) and the one thing they all have in common is that they expect this show to feel a part of the same world and naturally mesh with it - they won't care that it is made by different studios. Having Howard Shore on board will only solidify that this is supposed to be the same and will make any other changes even more jarring.
This trailer, the articles and the posters are not filling me with confidence that they want to seamlessly realise more of Tolkien's world and stories on screen. It would appear that they have other priorities and are just looking to capture the next fantasy epic like Game of Thrones.

This is a mix bag but certainly some memorable moments. It’s important to look at the stills because there is a lot being shown. The attention to detail is certainly there from the differences between First and Second Age elven armor. I’m not happy at all with short haired male elves but it seems to be a military thing from what I’ve seen. High-king of the Noldor, Gil-galad has long hair.
We see what looks like a ceremony/meeting with elves in Lindon, the kingdom of Gil-galad.
The very first teaser image was of Tirion in Valinor and all the details were correct. The same goes for this harbor city in Numenor, many are saying it’s Romenna. The holy mountain Meneltarma appears in the background. Even the large statue seems to be Elros Tar-Minyatur, first king of Numenor holding Aranruth, the sword of his elven ancestor Elu Thingol. The male dwarves look really good too in this show and more like LOTR than Hobbit designs.
