Actually if Cara Dune is not recasted she will just be used in the comics or animated projects, maybe we can finally have someone new from the comics to appear in the tv series to take her role of "good bounty hunter": like Beilert Valance, dr. Aphra or even Han Solo's ex Sana Starros.

It's still not the same though is it? Robocop didn't fail because of Kinnaman and Rocky is the title character that's been established for decades. Recasting Dune is more like Terrence Howard being replaced by Don Cheadle in Iron Man 2 and that wasn't a big deal either.

Star Wars fans aren't the same as Iron Man fans and this isn't some petty little dispute over money.

I'd pay good money to see one of the Twitter idiots take a swing at Gina Carano...

Not to mention the LFL staff who crowed online about the firing, accusing Gina of being racist etc. Shooting their mouths off.

As far as I know, Gina never singled anyone out by name for an insult.

For the staff of a company to act like mean girly teenagers online IMO is grotesque. These are "paid professionals"? No consequences there for LFL staff.

I'd at least expect "professionals" associated with the show to keep their mouths shut and just get to work.

Do you not remember a lot of those idiots were the ones constantly defending the ST by calling people who disliked it man-babies, and drinking out of "fan tears" mugs just to name a few examples?

None of the idiots at LFL running their mouth off are associated with the show, thankfully. They're just Story Group losers that have no bearing on anything except for High Republic nonsense and comics.

Switching gears back to the actual show I must say that with all the fun of HT's awesome new Boba Fett set that I really do find "The Tragedy" to be one of the most entertaining aspects of SW since the OT (despite my initial misgivings as to how Fett was presented.) In just a little over 30 minutes it pays tribute to almost every era of SW across multiple mediums.

I mean just look at this breakdown:

OT: Classic Stormtroopers/Slave I/ROTJ Fett armor
PT: Temeura Morrison
ST: FO style dropships
TCW/Rebels: Ahsoka being mentioned by name and then the Darksaber at the end
Holiday Special: Fett befriending the main heroes
90's video games: Dark Troopers
Legends EU: Fett returning from the Sarlacc
Kenner toys: Just the whole feel of the entire episode being "kids playing with their action figures"
And then of course new stuff like the characters of Din, Fennec, Cara Dune, Grogu using new Force powers to call out to Jedi, etc.

Of course I realize that many will consider some of the above elements to be negatives but I don't. I love it all. It's like the nexus of all things Star Wars and it's all packaged in a super streamlined 30 minute action extravaganza.

I'm just glad we're finally at a place where "fan-service" isn't such a taboo thing anymore. I never understood everyone who'd complain about that.

I'm a fan. Give me the full-service:dunno

I know right. Blasting a property for showcasing the most appealing elements *of* that property has always been an utterly bizarre criticism to me. :lol

Well, you explained that in a way that made sense to me, even tho I am unhappy about the direction the show seemed to go from mid-Season 2 on.

Favreau set my expectations up for something else, right of of the gate

Here?s the thing, we?re starting with new characters. There?s all sorts of conjecture about whether we?re gonna reveal that it was really Boba Fett all along. ?Is it a character that we already know!?? We wanted to start fresh with a whole new set of characters that you?ve never met before. What?s nice about that is that it reminds me of when we were starting [the MCU] with Iron Man. For new fans, these are new characters with new actors and a new world.?

New, new, new. There was just enough familiar to ground me, but it was - different. Gritty. Nobody apparently knew much, or cared, about anything SKYWALKER in this backwater world.

And for a while, it was so. It's not like I didn't expect even Luke to make an appearance; but as an exciting end finale:lsvader (and not as a CGI, maybe); or other characters, but season 2 was a definite overload. Meanwhile IMO exploring more of Moff Gideon, say; was neglected; and yeah, I would have welcomed a new Jedi or at least a Chirrut - like character.

As opposed to what felt like commercials for D+ series. Well, anyway, since it's Disney - (and they are not the only company to leap on what they think is an opportunity based on 1 success and start trying to milk it) - maybe I shouldn't be surprised. But throwing so much old in so fast has taken the thrill out of any more of it (for me); because now I am just waiting for it. It's not a cool thing to happen; it's just whenever the appearance of these older characters/or ships/villains etc. happens.

At this point too - the characters that Mandalorian started with, are pretty much gone, as far as his allies. It's practically a meme on that score.:pfft:

So, like, if a company is making a product you like, and then changes it, nothing you can do, but buy less of it *shrug*.

Overpaid Evilbay prices. But no regrets. Got the HASBRO Razor Crest on order and didn't need corporate pettiness messing up my planned display.:pfft:

Not that I personally pay attention to actors sounding off; including Chris Evans who apparently can't contain himself at times.

Thanks.

I think both instances of personalities "sounding off" are completely different though...

The way I understand it, Pascal pointed out that separating children from their parents and putting them behind bars in less than optimal conditions is akin to what Nazis did to jews and their children. And IMHO the comparison is correct. Jews were persecuted and treated as less than human because of their ancestry and religious beliefs, i.e. because of were they came from and because they were "different". I don't think anybody can argue that these immigrant families Pascal was alluding to were treated humanely.

Now let's take a look at what Carano posted:

"Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors … even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don't realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views."

The first half I have absolutely no problem with, as I think it's spot on.
But the second part that I highlighted is simply a fallacy, as in "a mistaken belief, especially one based on unsound arguments". You cannot compare persecution due to religious beliefs and ancestry to disagreement due to political views. Furthermore, bigotry, or discrimination because of gender, race, religious belief or sexual orientation is not a political view. It's discrimination.

So, no, IMHO Pascal didn't "get a pass", simply because his statement is in no way comparable to Carano's ill-advised and not-thought-through tweet.

Well you do have to ask yourself "What happened to the Jewish children after that picture was taken?" Big difference in the final outcome. So one could say tat he was trivializing what the Jews went through.

Also he had another post were he compared maga peeps to Nazis and slavers... So there is that also.

Carano's post was the same as what we see all the time.. People comparing the other side to Nazis.. Problem is she choose the wrong side to call Nazis. Personally I feel any time either side start throwing around the term Nazi at anyone who is not an actual Nazi they are hurting their argument.

Disney also tried to say that she was attacking a culture and a religion.. That was not the case at all.

I have issues with Disney getting all high and mighty after the Mulan fiasco.

As is often the case, I agree with the sentiment and most of your wording. I didn't take it that Gina was calling anyone "Nazis" though, but that she used a historical example (that someone else wrote) to highlight the perils of accepting division, and the way things can escalate through repeated dissemination of falsehood, hate & mistrust.

I.E. - people can become indoctrinated over time to not question what was previously (and would naturally be) abhorrent to them.

Things have become SO polarised & sensitive these days that it can be tough figuring out what to say without upsetting or alienating people.

Sometimes statements can be read as political when in fact they are simply trying to highlight dangers or injustice.

No point going into each tweet (none of which I found objectionable - most of which I found encouraging), but the one that was used as a "final straw" excuse to let Gina go was deliberately and maliciously misrepresented.

If I ever watch this show (or any Disney/LucasFilm output) again, I'll do so while trying my best to NOT fund a corporation that has decided hypocrisy, pandering, dishonesty, double-standards, smearing and outright lying is the right way to behave.

I'm disappointed that it took Gina's "firing" to make me come to this decision (I should have acted some months back when other issues were made public), but I can no longer support an organisation with this twisted attitude.

It's not like me taking this step will make a dent, but it will make me feel better.

Bro come on. Those kids were gassed and died. They had no food. They were forced to work. Many were experimented on and sexually abused. You can?t sit here and say Gina?s post was out of line and have no issue with Pedro?s.

They were treated humanely compared to Jewish children. Stop minimizing it.

Political persecution/discrimination has been a thing throughout history.

I don?t think Gina wasn?t comparing them 100% directly like Pedro was. She was saying that political resentment can lead to the level of violence. That acceptance of division and hatred can lead to another genocide.

Hating someone for being different, no matter the difference, is the same thing. It is hate regardless.

Yup this thread is going to be closed faster than Gina Carano’s SW career lol

It shouldn’t be. It is a historical discussion, not political.

Even then, I don’t see the big deal. Site isn’t really even kept up anymore and there are only a handful participating and being civil. Whoever made the rules/site seemingly dipped. And this is very relevant to the show anyways.

I’m cool with everyone. We are big boys. Let us talk about it.
