I don't know exactly what bothered me...

For one, the redhead started to really get on my nerves.
Second, Michael is becoming a bit of a Superwoman... First sign of trouble Pike overreacts and Michael puts him in his place. Then the Science Officer gets cocky, doesn't listen to Michael and promptly dies. Then Michael waltzes into Spock's quarters, has immediate access to his private log and solves the mystery (meaning she knows what Spock is up to and in the process will save him and the Galaxy... which is fine, but it just seems so convenient...).

I mean, the show started off great, with strong, believable female characters. I'm just a bit worried that this will turn into another "men are crap, women are superior" kind of exaggeration... It's always nice to have a bit of balance.

But I'm hopeful, I really liked the first season, so even if they become a bit heavy handed with the women-centric message, the story itself should be good.

As for my favorite show, I actually have only ever watched TOS and the movies.
Never had any interest in any of the other shows.

I am a Trek junkie. TNG and TOS top my list, and DISCO might very well join my top ranking Trek. The bottom one is DS9 mainly because they are “stationed” ~ something like a Love Boat Trek to me [emoji23]

Yes... I used to say, "To boldly float"!

That is all fair criticism and I can see where that would all be irksome...I was ok with it all though...but man you are missing out on some great entertainment by not having seen all of the amazing Star Trek content that is out there!

I am right there with you Nanjin...ALL Trek ALL the time! Love each and every one of them! DISCO is definitely creeping up to the very top after that Season 2 premiere...but my current favorite is actually DS9...followed by TOS...I get the point about them being stationary but that Dominion War was completely epic...and Trials and Tribble-Ations...that was truly a work of art!

Yeah, some day I’ll get around to it... I’m pretty sure TNG must be a good show!

I, myself, can never sit “still.” I like to move around. [emoji23]

It was my favourite for a while, though it varies in quality, not only between seasons but also episodes. But at its best it is very, very good.

Roddenberry even thought it was closer to his original intent than TOS (and wanted to retcon TOS out of existence!)

But while TOS is more about the human condition, TNG also explores more SF concepts of space and time.

Just watched the first episode of Season 1. It was enjoyable. I liked Picard, he's such a bastard...
Can't stand Data though.
Will watch some more.

For the first 2 seasons the show was still figuring out what it wanted to be...it technically truly starts with season 3. If you stick with it until then you will be rewarded with a HUGE leap forward in quality across the board once you hit the third season...scripts, acting performances, even the uniforms change...

TNG is amasing takes a little while to pick up like Jal76 said but you wont regret it. Heads up Endgame has taken inspiration from the finale of TNG.

Data was like a retard in Season One. But the character grew as the seasons moved forward.

I watched a couple more last night, and I'm really surprised at how close in style, look and content TNG is to TOS. I expected a much bigger jump, but it's really very close.

Oh, and I hate the kid, Wesley...

Wesley was a bad bad idea and I don't get it- he is the Will Robinson of TNG- you will see that. Season 2 is better and season 3 starts the chain of greatness.

There was this episode where Voyager Paris was Wesley's classmate in the academy but as a different character. I wished so much they were the same character.

Yep apparently Nick Locarno (that was the name of the Tom Paris character in the Next Generation episode) was going to be Tom Paris for Voyager and then they realized that they would have to pay royalties to the writer of that episode throughout Voyager's run so they simply renamed the character to get around it.
