Trilogies don't really count as one. You gots 11 of dem there movies in your list when you can only have 5.

It was really hard to narrow my list to five but my favorites are as follows:

1. All movies from the 80's

2. All movies from the 70's

3. All movies from the 2000's

4. All movies from the 90's

5. Matrix trilogy

Agreed although I would argue Lord of the Rings could count as one slot. It was made as one single narrative. I try my best to watch them in one go when I do watch them.

Fellowship ended in December of 2001 with Frodo and Sam walking down the rocky slopes of Emyn Muil. The scene fades, the credits roll, you hear some choir doing the Fellowship theme (and Enya) then it ends definitively.

As an audience, we had to wait a full year until we saw the characters again. I'd say they count as one movie each, even though they're unique in that they were filmed simultaneously (well, for the most part).

Yep. They're literally three movies. A movie can't be nominated for 2001 Best Picture if it didn't come out until 2003. The Academy doesn't give awards to thirds of movies.

The folks who commented after my "listing" post either missed all the others' posts which also includes trilogies in them, or you simply lust for whatever this is that you're doing.

Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum, by the way...

People listing entire series has "one" movie has been a longstanding thing with this site and some of us find it silly enough to comment on. I definitely would have given you a break if I'd noticed that you were new though. Plenty of other members I could have picked on instead. I hope you know it's all in good fun. :duff

It's all or nothing for me. I don't just watch one of them to get my fix like I could with Star Wars, Indy, Batman, etc etc etc. You're right that they're technically three movies but it's also technically one narrative. The second and third movies are technically sequels in the literal sense but at the same time they're unlike other sequels. They written ahead of time and filmed simultaneously. If I'm not mistaken, New Line Cinema was going to make one movie adapted from the novels but pretty soon the script became so large it was broken into two and then into three movies. For practical reasons it had to be three movies.

You could just list FotR as your favorite but you just watch that one and quit? To me that's like like Luke getting his lightsaber from Ben and then shutting off ANH. The story was just beginning!

We're here because we all are passionate about one common thing, and that's what counts. So cheers!

Welcome to the forum! :hi5:

I am going to go with Trilogies counting as one film, unless Top 10 lists get turned into Top 30 lists.. except The Matrix.. or Spiderman...... wait.. as long as it's a statement that I like all three!.. otherwise after the next Star Wars trilogy, there will be some very samey Top Ten lists.

I've been wanting to update my list. I haven't watched it in a long time, but when I was listing my favorite fictional character I realized that I don't really like Fight Club anymore. Or at least it's not my all time favorite movie!

1. Godfather Part 1
2. Godfather Part 2
3. The Dark Knight
4. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
5. The Empire Strikes Back

I can think of ten other films that could be in the top 5, but T2 is always #1.
