I usually have a keen eye for such details, but could someone fill me in on the differences between the regular Death Trooper and the Specialist? Is it just the pauldron and head-lamp or is there more differences I'm not noticing?

Mms385 specialist & mms399 specialist deluxe, both have the shoulder pauldron and the extra greanades front pouch. 385 has no led light, 399 has it. 385 has their common rifle blaster, 399 has the big rifle. Now 398 is the one with out any of the extras but has the led light and regular blaster the 385 has. This mando release is basically the mms398 repackaged

I’ll probably get at least one of these eventually. Should pair nicely with Krennic. Might just use my Shadow Trooper to have two Troopers wearing black armor flanking him versus buying two of the Death Troopers.

The originals sold out fairly quickly if I remember correctly. I had to snag the deluxe at the last minute before it went to waitlist. I wonder if these will do the same, especially with krennic on the horizon.

HT is getting pretty good at making "just enough" these days. This will probably be a medium sized batch. If they need more -- BAM! Offer v2 without rangefinder and long rifle.

Yep, hell they might offer that one next for the mando line since its in the promo pics

While this is just basically a re-issue (not a bad thing mind you) with the figure, it sure would be nice is LFL and HT took the Mando line as an opportunity to change up the packaging. And not just another ill-fitting cheesy addition on the current box like those boring belly bands and labels.

HT's graphics department has come up with some stunning designs for other lines like DC and Marvel. It would be most welcome to see some "Mando" inspired box art with textures and treatments. It would take a bit of the sting off the rising prices, the re-issues and offer a great presentation.

That would be nice if they could get off of the same boring packaging. This stuff is only sold in specialty stores, it's not like this stuff is sitting on the shelf at Walmart.

I don't really think these will be hard to find, there's a lot of people who have the first few figures already, and this release is for the johnny come latelys like me lol.

For those that already have a Death Trooper, are the holsters likely to be fine in the long run if you never use them to actually hold the pistol? I?ve always been wary about putting the guns/blasters into the holsters long-term for any of my figures.

Mine was peeling apart straight out of the box from Sideshow, that was with the deluxe. I returned it and later got a used specialist and that one was damaged when I bought it. I'm currently trying to track down that thin black pleather to make a replacement but I'm not sure where to source it exactly.

Just hope they used better material this time.

If you have any luck at all with this TonTon let me know. I?d be down to buy a couple off you. I found when I tried to reglue one back together there isn?t enough material that goes around the belt where i felt safe making the attempt without the glue getting on the belt itself or the figure. What would be ideal is if we could source the small snaps they use for some shirts and or jackets to snap one on. Hell even if it?s not the pleather and more like the nylon used for the harnesses and such would work too. It?s a simple design but just so damn tiny.

You mean the construction/glue/stitching of the holsters was faulty/falling apart, or the pleather itself was deteriorating/peeling?

I might pick this one up if they use a different material for the holster hehehe. this has been my fave trooper design aside from the scout trooper and the 1st gen clone trooper XD

Actually went back and watched Mando Ep 7&8 noticed none of the DT?s on the show actually have the led light version helmet

Same ****** thin magnetic holster design even still for this Mandalorian's version.

$211 for the second batch but $270 if you want the first. lol

Yeah first batch is when YouTube reviewers get them when they are first released in Hong Kong. Can only be picked up from secret base by hand.

Second batch is the main production run everyone else gets including Sideshow.

The pleather had just peeled apart into two separate layers. It's so thin and terrible and not strong enough to deal with the magnets, would rather just replace it with something that won't fall apart like that.

Does the one on the right here have a rangefinder angled downwards?

The one next to him looks to have something different as well.

I recant my previous statement lol. I got closer to the tv to look more closely. Was hard to tell from far away with all the sleek awesome black outfits lol There is indeed 2 with them. As pictured above. The one on the far right has his rangefinder pointed down. Those are the only 2 with them between the 2 episodes.

Weren't they all 501st guys called in by Filoni ?

I guess there would be some specialists or guys that wanted to have a rangefinder.
