sleep problems?

i dont blame this site but i hardly sleep either. 5 hours is a good night for me. if i sleep more than that i feel like im wasting precious minutes of my life. ill sleep when im dead. plus i work nights or afternoons so i usually like to sleep between 7am and noon.
 
Well the 8-hour sleep thing is an "old wives tale"...yes, thats right...old wives have tails...anyways;

I sleep on average 2-3 hours a night on a good night...1-2 on a bad night, insomnia is my friend...heck its the ONLY one thats stuck with me since childhood :p

Sleeping pills, i have to take em by the 18-wheeler load in order to get a good 4-5 hours sleep, so i dont bother (worries the girlfriend if i stop breathing too often)

They say to drink warm milk before you go to bed due to a substance in the milk making you sleepy...problem is if you drank enough in order for it to work...you'd wake up with wet bedsheets :p...or spend the whole night sittin on the white throne.

yea i think that has been mythbusted.............the 4-5 hours i get seems to do me fine...........every couple of months it may catch up to me though and maybe like on a saturday sleep a whole 10 hours. i wake up and feel good but guilty because i slept so long. and on the few occasions when i'm too tired to sleep (make sense??) usually a shot or 2 of crown does the trick. :naughty

most doctors recommend at least 7 hours to be a healthy amount for body to fully recover., but everybody is different. I think sleep is a waste of time, wish I didn't have to.
 
The studies show that more than 6 hours of sleep at night for men and 7 for women have no added benefit other than psychological. But both men and women are suggested to also have a nap of 10 minutes to 2 hours in the early afternoon.

My own belief is that the human body is capable of a lot more than it is given credit for. And that it will adjust to as little as 4 hours of sleep per night and the nap in the afternoon if this schedule is kept regularly, the body DOES need to adjust. This is what I do regularly as I am married, have 3 children, and I take my action figure playtime after the rest of the family is asleep. I steal SSF time when I am claiming to be doing reports for work on my own time.

I can not tell you how strongly I agree with you that sleep is a waste of time. Life is WAY TOO short to spend 33% of it sleeping!
 
They did a study that while low amounts of sleep can cause problems--so can sleeping too much. So don't anyone feel bad.


Anyways, all during summer I went to bed at 5am, then had work from 2pm-11pm (sometimes 12:30, bastards). I still get tired though. I usually get at least 6 hours of sleep but I'm pretty tired right now and I've barely done anything this week since school started. I plan to sleep a lot over the 3-day weekend though.
 
I hardly sleep, 2-3 hours a day maybe. I'm always on here lol.

Same for me, sometimes I even skip a night.

Problem is always when I am really tired and night begins I revive and become more active.

Never used sleeping pills, afraid to do.

One time I came home around six in the evenig and layed down on my bed just to relax, wake up next morning around 9...

Too hard to get rid of it once you had it, but we have survived as a civilization before the internet became available to the general public around the mid 90's.
 
I have a government courier run so I literally jog at my stops when i'm not driving so naturally I sleep like a baby, takes me like 2 mins to fall asleep. Heres the problem though, physically my job is draining so even 8 hours doesn't do much for me.

Plus i'm always here too so that doesn't help either! Eh sleeping is overrated, why sleep when you can be here. :google I need to go to sleep!

You said it brother. That's my habits spot on. It's 12:18 now. I went to bed well after 1:30 last night, woke up at 4:00 AM, got online, went back to bed at 5:00, tried to get up at 7:00 but managed to get to work by 8:30, very tired at work, no nap since then, and now it's 12:20 and I'm completely energized.

That may have been part of it. Adrenaline. I'm stoked about setting up an Alien/Predator shelf. How geeky is that? I get a chubby after buying a few statues. Well, not literally, but still, I get excited over such things.
 
My whole Aliens dio line is in front of me on one shelf above the computer, so I get the feeling every day. They are all looking down at me and I cannot wait for a Queen to get here and be the centerpiece!
 
2 hours a night for 3 years when i worked at Heathrow Airport (yea...London...grand). Even on my days off...i couldnt sleep more than that....and it hasnt done anything bad to me...


i mean seriously, everyone see's the little Angelina Jolie Demons right?....right?....oh dear
 
I only get bout' 4-5 hours of sleep now that I work the graveyard shift :horror I really cant sleep during the day...The only good thing is that we rotate shifts so I only got 3 more weeks of this, then its back to the day shift...:D
 
I honestly think I have insomia... either that or I'm smoking crack.. I can't sleep if my life depended on it.. I have way too many things on my mind...
