1/6th Millennium Falcon Gunner Station

I know. Cheesy 1st post with no pics. Think of it as wetting your appetites. I'll post a couple pics when I get home.

I started this last night. It's totally inspired by our own Dorgs "Mr. Falcon" Snow. He's a 1/6 modeling beast and I'm gonna try like hell to do this justice. My wish is that one could look at both threads (the Falcon Cockpit thread in case you're living in the Outer Rim) and think they were done by the same person, especially since it's the same ship. That means I'm gonna have to step up my game. It'll take a little longer, but I got a good feeling about this from what I have in my head.

I'm basing it on Luke's lower station. I have the image that was used on the later Kenner 3 3/4 cards and a very similar B&W image. If anyone has any images they think I may find useful, they'd be appreciated.

So Mark...this one's for you buddy. Keep up the awesome work and keep being the flame some of us need under the pants to keep trying and improving our skills.

Mock-up pics to follow in a few hours. I'll be in the other thread studying if you need me for anything.

I think I have the correct size of the structure through some trial and error. It's surprisingly similar to how I built the Detention Block. I'll do the actual seat last as that will require more messing around. Once I throw the pics up, I'll look forward to everyone's thought on scale. It's all foamboard for now, so it looks rough but I'll convert to a sturdier material once my templates are made.

Okay, here's the first set of pics. Again, where I have used the foamboard as a base in the past, this will be made out of better material, but I'm making templates from what I have.

I think I have it sized OK, but extra eyes never hurt and I'll look forward to your thoughts. My sizes are eyeballed, but based on the following:

When Han first sits down, he looks like he flips a couple switches without reaching to bad.

When the seat is swung to an extreme side (as shown in one of Marks pics above), it looks like he wouldn't be able to reach the opposite side with an extended arm.

Alot of my dimensions are based on the entry hole. Once the hole is right, you can just use images to see how wide parts are in relation to that hole. The size seems reasonable compared to what I remember of the movie.

So what do you guys think? Is the size in the ballpark?

I agree the octagon is equal on all side from what I can see. I have started drawing up some plans for you. But I am not 100% happy the scale I have done.

Mark, I love you man, but what the hell are these "cm"'s you speak of? My AMERICAN tape measure has little hash marks every 1/8 of an inch. You crazy foreigners and your metrics

Can I assume your doodle is an overhead view? I hadn't accounted for a narrow part in the middle yet, so this is cool.

Back to the drawing board though. Hopefully I'll have some time to re-do some things tonight.
