The guy who supplied me with the cockpit wall pics to help out Dorgmal with his cockpit also has fantastic drawings of the the gunwells. I'm totally brainfarting on his name ATM. I think he joined the freaks board and posted in Dorgs' cockpit thread last year.

Thanks man. That would be great if you could find them. I haven't looked super-hard yet since I'm not at that stage, but if somebody has more accessible reference material already, it would certainly get added to the folder.

I remember Ozzy, I remember he was a busy chap but I also remember two other chaps helping me out, one was caller Richard and one was Paul... not much help I know but if I can find th emails I will email em. I tell you man you have nailed it with what you have done so far!!!

I'm Paul, and I think I just sent off the pics to you Dorgs.

The pics are excellent and Ozzy put them out a few years back to help people with their models. Then one days some JERK(for lack of a more aprpriate word) was selling the pics as decals or something when they were offered free. He then stopped putting them out and was very picky on who had them. last year when Dorgs was building the cockpit, I contacted him and he was cool.
So, I love to help, but Ozzy deserves the credit.

Hah that is so funny Paul!! I was just writing your email when I read the post. Well I am gonna see if I can get hold of Ozzy and just tell him whats going on and thank him for all his help, I will email Jeff (Send me your email address mate) the file you sent me... They are so cool and here is a screen shot.

great project. good progress IMPoor!

I've always been confused on the camera angles and the physics of this scene. They make it look like the ladders are behind them. but the ladders go up and down, so whoever is on the bottom gun is being suspended?

Thanks Prog. V1 was obviously a little weak due to the perspective/optical illusion of that part of the movie and how I saw it. Fortunately, we got a few peeps on here that set me the right direction.

I'm going with the V2 style then. Hopefully this Ozzy give Dorgs permission to send the wall details (pm'd you my email Mark) And I can get to looking for bits and LED's.

What phrase wasn't said in any of the movies?
"I've got a GOOD feeling about this!"

Ay but it should have been. Paul has sent me another pic.. and you are gonna poop you cowboy underpants when you see it!!!

My Depends are hiked up and ready for the ensuing accident, and I'm feeling pretty silly. Should I be cautiously optimistic?

The Falcon likely has some kind of artificial gravity, and in the gun turrets the axis for "Up" is perpendicular to the rest of the ship.

Since Han and Luke were sitting with their backs to each other, one of them would be looking at the ground were the ship to land.

The second pic I sent you is from the starlog technical manual magazine put out in 92-93. Its a nice drawing, but I don't think the room angles towards the ladder. It's still a cool pic tho.

Thanks for access to those Paul. They'll help I'm sure. That Starlog pic is great for the seat and that whole gunner unit. I was hoping that the "room" didn't taper down like that. It's so hard to tell. With any luck, I'll be able to use the other image to really get the sides detailed properly.

Gettin' real excited!!

3 pics tonight, but not much to update. I was messing with some window dimensions. Can't do much until payday except keep tweaking my measurements so when I get the proper material it goes smooth (knock on my wood desktop). So it may not look like much kid, but I'm getting the info that counts. Bear with me. It's looks off because I was just assembling quick for visuals. It will be more precise when it needs to be.

Again, many thanks to those contributing to the cause via pics and feedback.

Those Starlog tech manuals are not the most accurate plans. I've seen many 3D modellers curse their existance after following their dimensions.

The room looks like it must taper. The round window is much larger than the access tube, but the panels join the back wall only inches from the tube opening.

Hey guys, I'm Richard.. :) I sent you those in an email Dorgmal but as I see that their creator got them to you first.. no worries (probably should've checked here before I sent it off) ;)
I also included a couple of (I think) production sketches that I have saved from somewhere along with a plan of the cockpit tube showing how the plates are supposed to look (on the outside).
good times here on the SW boards :hi5:
oh and great start on this project.. I finally got started on my Palpatine throne that I've been putting off for so long and now I've run out of styrene :rotfl just my luck. Thank god it's payday.
