Wrong. Neutral sculpt vs neutral sculpt the DX09 is better, and you have to compare prototype vs prototype to be fair. You went out of your way to highlight the worst faceplate, with the worst lighting, using a production photo vs a prototype.
I was just pointing out that one faceplate. Don’t get me wrong, I love the DX09, but the head on this one is better. Even better than the prototype from 2011.

The cowl sculpt on this one is all new. Better ears, head shape, everything. Hologram’s comparison sums it up perfectly.

Is there a chance the final production piece won’t look as good? Sure. I don’t think that’s going to be the case though. Hot Toys has improved with production paint applications and movable eyes since 2012. Best example is their Bale and Affleck figures. The eyes and faceplates are so much more lifelike now. The DX09 was good for its time, but look how big and fake those eyes look. Look at the mouthpieces jutting out and not fitting in properly. The new one will be better and more realistic looking. No doubt in my mind.

Still think the new one looks better. The toothy mouth plate needs fixing but overall I prefer the new cowl.

I agree. The original was no slouch (apart from the ill-fitting mouth pieces), and looks great still in flattering lighting. But the new one’s going to look better when we see the side-by-side comparisons of final product when it ships in 2026.

Weeeeeeeee! I’m so happy right now. 1.0 was great, just saw it in the flesh the other day from a friends collection, was so envious! 2.0 will definitely be great as well. I wouldn’t mind if it was a 1:1 reissue even. It’d be good enough to get a chance to have finally have it in my collection. Bloody awesome.

Missed the DX09 but got the DX08 when I got the Returns version in 2015 and I figured that was enough for me.

This re release was going to be an easy pass but now I am not so sure it will be! This suit really is different enough from Returns to justify having both on display (not to any normal person like my wife of course)

Luckily the Flash version will be an easy pass......won't it? I mean having all three Keaton Batmen is just crazy isn't??!!

If a Wayne in Steve Jobs outfit is really coming with the Bat-computer set-up, maybe I've use my rewards on that. It's not something I would normally buy... but I'm in a Bat-mood.

I missed the DX09 when it came out and was never going to pay aftermarket for it and I always thought it looked a little "off". I'm not as knowledgeable a batfan as many in here, but I'm extremely impressed with the update. I think that texture on the cowl and suit will soften a bit in production. And I am absolutely loving the PO gallery showcasing so many iconic poses/moments from the movie. Someone putting that gallery together is a fan and it shows.

Hey, at least HT isn't just pumping out a barely disguised rehash like that Batman Begins figure...it looks like some effort went into this redeux. It's like HT knew this was a real prestige piece and care has to be taken. it's reminding me of the new Bane...same story, much better effort.

Now here's hoping his appearance in that "Flash" movie doesn't come across as so bad it'll be embarrassing to have this in the collection...

As someone who missed out on the original, I think this looks great and can't wait for it to ship.

I was thinking about how usually we get reveals on Thursday nights/Friday mornings but this time we got it early in the week. I wonder if that means we'll get a second '89 reveal at the end of the week or will it all be AntMan focused with the movie releasing this weekend.

I don't think his appearance in The Flash (whether good or bad) will have an impact for those that are fans of the original movie. Even if the movie and Keaton's Batman are bad in the new film, I can't see it taking away anything that made the originals great. We still have those and have had those for 2 decades 3 decades now. If the movie and his portrayal as batman are good in the new film, it'll just enhance the originals but if it's bad, most will probably just pretend it doesn't exist and go back to pretending all we have are the 89 and Returns films.

I’ve got some bad news…it’s been three decades 👴🏼

Just took a look at my 2012 DX Batman 1.0... and he holds up very well. Really love that figure. Haven't moved it in 10 years because of the cape. :lol

This new one, because of its current cape -- unless the material changes between now and 2026 when its delivers -- I may have to make it a battle-damaged version, since the cape looks "burned".

Exactly this. Nothing will take away Keaton's legacy.

I know many collectors weren't born when Batman 89 came out but it only takes a little research to understand how important that movie was for Batman and comic book movies in general.

You can honestly sum up comic movies as pre-and-post Batman in ‘89. It was a huge cultural shift for the character and genre.

There's a very filmic quality to the Burton Batman movies that modern superhero joints don't share. I wouldn't dare display any MCU merchandise next to Alien, Conan or Legend, but somehow Keaton Bats and his gothic buddies feel like they'd fit right in. I tend to think of them more as classic movie icons than anything comic book-related.

(also probably helps that they're all from the same decade and the designs have stood the test of time)

Looking at these comparisms I'm sold. My DX09 arm is broken so he can sit in the batmobile while this one stands on my display. The face really looks like keaton when compared to it, i just kinda took the DX09 as accurate but never really looked at comparisms to keaton. Now sugo toys need to hurry up and put these up for pre order cause I'm pre ordering day one, never pre ordered day one before but these i just gotta.
