I've seen these going for 140 USD in some places and I am sure the quality or lack of details will match such a low price.

I am no expert on accuracy but the figures lack so many details :D I assume there will be plenty of collectors who pick them because they are cheap but I prefer quality over quantity.

We deserve Gondor Guards figures to be done properly, maybe by someone like Coomodel if not Asmus.
THAT would be amazing (re: Coomodel picking up the armoured guards)!!

These are described as being "Die casting alloy".
-Gondor Guard helmet (metal)
-Gondor Guard Anterior and posterior breastplate (metal)
-Shoulder armor (metal)
-Leg guards(metal)
-Skirt armor (metal)

I would suspect that these are good enough to pick up for the armoured pieces, but that the clothing and body likely need replacing.

These could work for those that are army builders.

I agree with Waiden in that I would prefer properly done Gondorian soldiers. While the price is good, shipping costs will get them up there near $200.

These look great, especially if Asmus has no plans to ever make Gondorian soldiers. I really wish the hands were black though so they looked like gloved hands. The bare skin just doesn't fit the armored look. I'm sure it's an easy enough fix to buy some hands elsewhere, but it seems like a very basic and weird thing to get wrong.

Anyone know if NooZoo figures end up looking like their photos or significantly worse? I'm not familiar with them, although I might have to track down one of those Lannister Sergeants now too, if their quality is known to be decent.

These take me back to the ToyBiz days. Remember when that single carded Gondorian soldier was the talk of the town and so hard to get?
I never managed to get the last bunch of figures. They just didn’t appear in any stores near me so I missed that Gondorian Soldier, (got a Citadel guard though,) that Armoured Uruk Hai, Guritz and whatever else wrapped the line up. Owning that 24” Balrog was a great achievement for my teenage self though!
Sadly I replaced him recently with the Prime 1 statue.

Nearly crunch time to decide on picking these up with Kit or not...
I think I will definitely get the normal Gondorian guard - its accurate, looks great, is diecast and there doesn't seem to be any complaints about him.
Still haven't made my mind up about the Fountain Guard though - love the design from the movie and it is a pity this figure isn't more accurate - but is it accurate enough to go ahead anyway?
What do we think?
Let me know your thinking.

I'm going to pass myself, going to hope Asmus gets around to them sooner or later. I know they have a lot on their development schedule right now but hoping for these guys from them eventually.

That is what I'm leaning towards, as well. If they had been less expensive, I would have been tempted to get them. I think the metal armor could have been done in plastic for cheaper and still look good.

I'll take one last look and see if I can be persuaded to get at least the regular soldier, as lordnastrond has suggested.

I PO’d all 3.
Asmus’ rep stated they think Haldir is likey to bomb so it’s a safer bet to just grab what you can than expect them to gamble on generic soldiers.

They seem to have a lot of 2.0s/rereleases planned so getting around to tiis could take a while. But, the best thing about army-builders is that you can never have too many!

That's why I think they should re-use the armor from Haldir on the Galadhrim archers...you'll get the army builders who help them recoup a lot of their costs on sales of multiple figures.

Those Last Alliance soldiers sold pretty well it seemed, can't imagine Galadhrim soldiers would be worse off considering they got a lot more screen time in an all time memorable battle.

I’m surprised Asmus view Hadir as a dud. He wears beautiful armour, has an awesome sword, would compliment their Helms Deep Aragorn and Legolas wonderfully and has the reuse potential.

Gondorian armour would even appeal to general historical figure collectors due to its familiar design but we don’t know what metrics they’re using to gauge sales viability.

Not hard to see why

For what its worth @RandomHero - I would deffo buy Haldir and some Galadhrim.

Decided to pre-order the ordinary soldier and the Fountain guard, its a long gamble on Asmus to think they will do these figures and it might be a long way down the timeline to boot. These look great, I can't see how they could improve on the Gondor soldier at all - its pretty much perfect and a decent price at that, and if Asmus eventually do an accurate Fountain Guard I will pick that up aswell and mix-match the best pieces of the two figures.
and like @Chopper Face says you can never have too many army builder figures!
