All this additional info is so fun to read up on. I mentioned wanting one before but now, I really need a BTS Doc of some sort. I’d even buy a Blu-ray just to watch it.

I caught this last night. I thought it was good. Certainly the best Predator-involved movie since Predator 2. Nothing special, but a fun diversion into the Predator-verse with a decent (if predictable) story, some good action, and a couple of fairly compelling characters. Didn't care so much for the monster design, some of the acting was a bit over the top (particularly the French trappers), and the CG animals and gore looked pretty cheap at various points, but that's what I've come to expect in modern times.

Prey created more buzz than The Batman

:chase
I'm surprised that almost a week later I haven't taken it upon myself to watch it a second time. I think it's partly due to it being a victim of its own "respectability." Because I'm starting to feel that that's all that it is. Respectable. Not epic, not awesome, not terrible, not silly or hilarious, not offensive at all just--respectable. And therefore not something that I'm particularly excited about revisiting. :dunno

I feel similar, though I did watch it a 2nd time, to help settle on an opinion.
Yes it's a solid film and very enjoyable in places, however, I can't see myself watching it again and again like P1, P2 and Predators.
It was only my second viewing and I had to fast forward the first 20-30 mins.
I never felt the need to fast forward the first half hour of any Predator film before.

Finally watched it last night. Enjoyed it quite a bit and yes, respectable is actually an apt description. I guess in this day of reboots/sequels etc sucking the joy out of our favourite franchises, it's a relief to watch something that wasn't an embarrassment. I appreciated the stripped-down story and the interesting main protagonist (and her dog!). The cinematography was terrific as well. The overhead shot of Naru heading out away from the women in the tribe was good, simple visual storytelling. The burnt forest attack sequence was a lot of fun too.
I was ok with the digital animals but unmasked Feral Predator was a bit of a letdown. Anyhoo, a decent entry that certainly sits above the AVP series and recent sequel. I'd have to rewatch Predators and Predator 2 to reassess how I feel about them. Worth a look!

To which I bring up I rewatched the Batman last night worried it wouldn’t hold up and I am happy to report that it absolutely did and it will firmly remain respectively on my # 2 spot right behind the masterpiece that is TGM.

But wait jye how about Black Panther 2!

:lol :lol

But yep Prey is to be commended for ending the streak of pure garbage in this franchise and clearing the palette for whatever they might want to do in the future. In many ways it did what TFA did. Cleared the palette after the PT by basically repeating the story of the original film but with a girl in a different era. Not earth shattering but not bad either.

Definitely nowhere near TGM or TB, lol.

It is a masterpiece when compared to The Predator I turned that crap off lol

Glad this movie is getting so much great buzz . Well deserved and we need monster movies like this to come back. Now alien needs a comeback. Am I missing any other 80s monster?
