Like someone mentioned, to my ears there are some classic sounds missing somehow. But this is the TFA version, so maybe that's why.

Maybe it's because they are all after each other ?? Dunno

They'll probably do a single BB8 with sounds at some point too. I didn't get Rey and BB8, so I'd be tempted for that. But for these prices......tough call for a single "simple" little robot with no face sculpt etc.

it's a real pity to have a great finish R2, and not to have all the classic sounds.

From Sideshow's site:

SSC R2 size: 171.45mm
Hot Toys R2 size: 179.83mm

Good thing this the definitive R2 and HT will never ever release a better version with more features... right?

Good to know its taller.

Of course 8.5mm = .33 inch.

Not sure one-third inch is enough. Talibane also felt his girth wasn't enough. Talibane needs more girth.

That's good news! Hopefully they're measuring to the top of the dome and not cheating by measuring to the top of the little rotating lens to snag a extra few mms.

EDIT: Crap. I just measured SS R2 and he's 180mm! :lol

It's come out as late as march 2018. How about they just rename it THE LAST JEDI version

Ha ha!
It could be the case that the Tama version comes out before this and steals HT thunder. I think the Tama version will be the definitive R2 if they do get around to producing it. With the release date of this one they have plenty of time to sway me.

Yeah I think I'll pass on this one.

My trusty SS R2 will do me, he's next to my computer every day. Can't go off selling him for some "shiny top, 60% die cast" model for over $200 smackers !

$219 is easy pass for now. Frightening what it's going to cost when they do come out with OT version...although I'll gladly shell out for that 🤓

I little high damn but I want it...

:rotfl Just did the same thing and I'm like - "oh no, is the HT the same too-small height?! NOOOOO!"

So the jury is still out on this HT R2's height.:gah:

Yeah, wow - 1/6 prices. Like the never ending story.

The SSC R2 - with a ton of accessories - was $150, but could easily be gotten close to $100 forever. So the HT one is $70-120 more, but comes with nothing?

And releases in A YEAR from now?

The 1/6 Gods have turned angry and we are all paying the price.... or not.:slap

Anyone who thought this would be under $200 was doing some serious wishful thinking considering tiny Yoda was $200 and die cast figures in general are always more expensive. I still may pick it up though since I don't have the SSC version. 2018 is a long way off, especially considering how much stuff is getting delayed these days.

Speaking of wishful thinking, I was kinda hoping this would be out sooner and then they would announce an ESB Dagobah Luke and R2 set at some point this year. Ah well.
