I think it's a matter of people not being able to live in a grey area. Because Bale dropped a bit of size, you get people claiming he was thin. That's simply not the case - he was pretty damn huge in Begins and I imagine he only dropped an inch or two from around his chest/biceps/legs etc, which still makes him big - just not as big. I imagine that HT took the best compromise they could in retooling the shoulders on the body - it doesn't make economic sense to build a new body for every character they release just because an actor's body is, in sixth scale, a quarter or eighth of an inch bigger or smaller in some areas than their standard body - production costs, if they did that, would soar. Likewise, because they didn't have appropriate images when tooling the first Joker head, the likeness was off. Because of this, you get some people screaming that the figure is hideous, while the other side, who like their figure, shout back just as loud that it's awesome, because they don't like to think they spent money on something sub-par, or that their personal taste levels have been called into question.

Learn to live with some grey, people. Compromises have to be made every day, life occurs on a gradient.

EXACTLY. well said.

Agreed.

Here's the thing: If I like something I could care less if other people like it. Other peoples opinion don't affect my personal likes/dislikes. But with that being said, there's nothing I like (as far as movies/music/the small amount of 1/6 scale figures I have/etc.) that I would have the need to "defend" to someone else. I'm a realist. It doesn't matter how much I personally like something, I can be unbiased and honestly critique it and dissect it. There's A LOT of things that I personally like that I know other people would classify as "crap". And it doesn't matter to me. It's not my job to "Sell" these things to other people. If I like a movie even though I personally can see how others would view it as crap I'm not gonna go out of my way to make new fans of it. The hell with all that.

That's why it's hard to judge if half the opinions on this board are coming from actual customers or company molls. The way some people defend certain companies and products and overtly "Sell" items with over the top, nut hugging compliments is scary, if indeed these are actually normal people. imo.

I'm with you in some ways but not in others. Comments like "HT made a mistake" (I paraphrase your last post, apologies for not quoting directly) are going to provoke a reaction from those who believe the figure to be very good. Because (and here it's just my opinion) HT didn't make a mistake. They made a choice - release the figure on a body that isn't an exact replica of the actor (chest perhaps is a fraction of an inch too wide, waist is perhaps too narrow, etc), or delay production, spend tens of thousands on retooling a completely accurate new body that can only be used for one actor, in one role, in one movie (who knows what Bale will be built like in the next - if there is one - Batman movie) and have to double, triple, or even more than that the cost to the consumer. I don't think it's a matter of there being "company trolls" (again, quite provocative language) on the board, but rather people who don't like being told that something they like is inferior/sub-standard/etc. I definitely agree that there can be single-minded fanboyism for a company, and you see it quite a lot around here for both Sideshow and Hot Toys, but I think there are perhaps better ways of framing and responding to critiques than we see right now. A little more understanding, and acceptance of that grey area I think would be a good place to start.

Thanks bro, are you Chinese and from Hong Kong as well?

No, found it on www.onesixthwarriors.com :)

Has there even been a 100% perfect figure? is life perfect? The last I checked life was far from perfect in this world. There's no end to analyzing. You can't please everyone, but this has reached the stage it's just become seriously anal on analyzing.

lol i dont mean to offend the picky guys but if you want a perfect figure, the only way to do that is to invest some serious time and money to make it yourself since Hot Toys is still a business. They aren't going to spend the extra money to fix everything and frankly IMO even so I think their figures are near perfect. All i am saying is that there is probably a good reason why Hot Toys didnt come out with a perfect TDK figure. They know what it looks like and are not blind.

Ok...and what are your thoughts on the people who are being constructive and choose to modify their figure when it arrives? It seems you (and I'm using "you" in the most general sense) have a beef with people who A) Don't feel the same way you do about the figure and B) choose to alter it. It's almost like people who do either of the above have attacked you in some personal way and you just spring to defense, when in truth we're talking about a collectible item, and a collectibles producer/company.

I keep up with this thread (or, I try to), and I don't remember anyone calling the figure hideous. The nit picking won't hurt the figure's feelings (and I doubt HT will see it that way either), so why defend it so adamantly?

What they do with it is up to them, I don't care, but it's the constant slagging that this has now started a trend just like The Joker v1 head. But thats not my gripe the most, it's the constant going on about it page after page after page. Week after week. It's one thing to agree about imperfections, but to go on about it day after day, week after week. Isn't that seriously annoying?

After all, there's a search function, they can go back and read the pages but they don't have to keep bringing it up on and on and on.

There's at least the past 5 pages of whining this whining that, maybe more. This isn't right that isn't right. What he agrees he does not yadda yadda yadda. On and on the merigo round we go.

Seriously, how many times does it need to be discussed. It's a different matter when they have it, they have done it, post nice pictures of it and be done with the constant bickering.

So is this the point in time in which I can post that "Leave Britney Spears alone" youtube video?

I was going to write my big "dissertation" guys, but Aussie has pretty much stole the words right out of my mouth. There has to be a level of compromise, Hot Toys is not Enterbay, who make a new body for every figure released to fit the fitness of Bruce, Jet, Jackie, Bean, etc. HT is like the poor man's enterbay.

Now I've never stood for their pricing, and have never bought anything from HT before, or medicom for that matter. I do own a Enterbay Way of the Dragon figure, because I am a massive Bruce Lee fan. I was going to skip the whole TDK line because I honestly didn't know if I could afford or want any of the figures, even after seeing the movie. I was wrong, and the prices for these figures is acceptable to say the least. I would've paid much more for Batman than I already am, probably as much as I did for Bruce. Sure he's a tad bulky, but the suit was too.

I for one don't think that I'm a HT Fanboy or supporter for that matter. I do however believe that Hot Toys is doing a great thing by listening to us and trying their best to make the figure the best Batman figure ever made. Now after they've spent more thousands one this figure we get more people griping about it. The waist is too big, the this is too big, this is off, and only after the figure was retooled to our specifications. Not DC's, Not WB's ... ours the fans. I think it's a real slap in the face to a company who seems to be doing their best to try and fix everything they possibly could.

Let's see what all they fixed for us shall we?

First, we’ve narrowed his shoulder and reduced the size of his shoulder armors: They took it upon themselves to actually change the body, make it narrower to actually fit our standards.

Second, tighter pants for him to looks more fit in size: On top of that people wouldn't stop whining about how baggy the pants were, "they look like screwed up jeans". So they re-sculpt them, and recast a brilliant tight yet still flexible pair, and yet we still have complainers.

Third, JC Hong, YULLI & Kim Jung Mi have amended both head-sculptures as your bonus: They meticulously resculpted both heads, BOTH of them to match both Bale and the cowl better. Now I'm still seeing people going, "That cowl still sucks, looks nothing like it". I don't see how it doesn't, to me it's spot on.

Lastly, we’ve also made a little amendment on his cape & belt and color of his suit: They completely redid the color scheme on a figure because so many people said it was too gray and too black, not enough blue. The colors on the suit were matched exactly to the film used suit, the blue tint came from the blue lighting they used throughout most of the movie. I saw the suit it was gray and black, just like the figure and I mean that. That alone probably cost them a couple of grand to get the colors "right".

People still aren't happy with the figure and you might as well just be turning around and going, "Your best just aint good enough for us". I just can't believe you people, it's very ungrateful to just keep on griping and whining even after they try their best to please you, their consumer.

I didn't say that. Given the options, people will do what they want and as such will cater to their preferences. I think the figure could do with some modding.

If you buy it and like it as-is, great -- more power to you.

And "ripping the crap out of it" is hardly what modders are doing to the figure. It's along the lines of a figure repaint. I don't see people complaining when customizers post pictures of their repainted HT V1 Joker head. Or fixing the pocket watch chain on the figure. How about all those Sideshow SW figures that I've seen in the custimizing section that get complete makeovers? No one's complaining there that they're ruining the original figure.

It's all about perspective and preference.

And hey, we're all fanboys here. This thread is 200+ pages long. :lol

Okay, how about "Dremmeled the crap out of it." Did you see the pics earlier? That dude not only dremmeled the hell out of the figure's chest, sides and @$$, but he dremmeled the hell out of his hand too! The waste basket looked like a bio bin at the mortuary I worked at.

As for comparing it to a repaint, that's a bit absurd. Actually, that's totally friggin' absurdd.:rotfl The mods that guy's making to his figure are drastic. You can fix a repaint with more paint or thinner. You can't fix dremmeling too much. You @#&% that up, you'll be on ebaY dropping another $75+ on a HT replacement body somebody kitted out. Then, I suspect, crying in this thread how you had to pay for a replacement body.:D

EDIT: And the fanboy remark? No, fanboys are the ones who're picking up the figure using 1/4 of their rent money. Some of you guys are like friggin' Annie Wilkes from Misery!

I don't understand how there can be any complaints. I've just recently gotten into Hot Toys, and boy, they are one of the greatest things to happen. I don't care if their Dark Knight figures aren't 110% movie accurate, imo it's probably like 99% They're figures are just plain awesome, no one can come close. Keep it up Hot Toys! Just imagine, if their Batman figures are this good right now, how good will they be for the 3rd installment? I can't wait.

Yeah, I can't wait. Imagine a real metal belt thats flexible like wrist watches that all fold up. Imagine if it was magnetized. All the little extras you can clip on. That would be quite an immense feature. Foldaway batarangs. :D

It's pretty obvious he was dremeling the figure. You missed my point entirely. I was referring to the negative connotation in hearing "ripping the crap out of it." That's a bit insulting considering the guy put time and effort into modding the figure. That's his decision and the fact that the very same people who defended the original HT TDK figure went ahead and referred to the modded figure as girly, possessing a female physique or (worse yet) "ruining the figure" is a bit nit-picky, which in turn makes them just like the people they're quick to point fingers at. Hypocritical, no?

Also, I likened the dremel job to figure repaints because in essence you're altering the original item to something else in order to fit your preferences. The actual process is beside the point. And also, epoxy putty (or a similar hobby substance) can be used to fix mistakes when doing this sort of thing.

Uh.... mkay, what women have you been dating? It DOES look like a woman's physique, upto and including the pooch. You guys were making it sound like it was modified by Allah himself! "That cacadoodie cape is all wrong. Piddledippers, that chest is just too big! Nobody's that big, not even my Misery!" I'm serious, you guys are like @#$%ing Annie Wilkes.

Bro, here's the bottom line. as it stands, that friggin' figure is the most beautiful @#$%ing thing to come out in 1:6 scale in a long time, maybe ever. Why @&$% it up?!

Guys, please stop with this already. If you find the figure perfect out of the box, good on you. If you want to mod it to make it better, go ahead.

Also remember what Batman said:

It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me

So what if he's a little thick around the waist on the figure etc :p

Why so serious???

So, stop with the bashing etc. Swear to god. No

SWEAR TO ME!

I just couldn't resist :p

Now, that being said, I can't wait to get mine!

WHERE IS HE?!?!

It's going to be a long wait and a double whammy for me with this and the She-Predator Machiko expected to arrive this month. Geez!

wow you really hit the mark there, I didn't even think of that. A magnetized belt to have batarangs stick on would be killer. Sideshow used this method on the PF Robocop for the hands, why can't HT?

SHHHHHH! Stating Sideshow 1-upped HotToys, especially here, will get you dragged to a snowed-in cabin, tied to a bed and hobbled!
