You all asked for better products and InArt brought them. You all seemed to want these better products at no extra cost, which is unrealistic - so now everything is more expensive across premium brands like HT and IA because it can be. You take the good with the bad tbh.

No one really asked for Hot Toys to make a new artificially limited “premium” line so they can charge collectors more for fancy hair. Which is still untested and an unknown quantity to us as of now.

Same way no one really asked for Iron Man figures to incorporate cheap pot metal diecast parts just so they can start jacking up prices. I know some wanted diecast but they probably wouldn’t have asked if they knew prices would go up that much.

And while it is true quality comes at a cost, 1) we don’t know if Hot Toys can deliver actual quality on these yet and 2) up until artisan, Hot Toys did improve their figures which were lagging behind at no major cost increase with features like improved materials, moving eyes, USB, etc.

InArt competition helped with that. But now they’re just using the hype to push a new line of figures that don’t have any additional improvements beyond the hair aside from Joker.

If the artisan releases all had specially designed bodies, real leather, improved tailoring, full diorama stands, etc. then there’d be fewer complaints even if the price was much higher.

At least InArt included metal/wood diorama with their Joker release. This is barebones yet still charge a premium just for a hair change...

Completely agree. Not happy with the price they are asking just for an unproven hair change..
Not to mention her sculpt looks like she needs a tan..

InArt's most significant contribution to the 1/6 market seems to have been showing Hot Toys how to get away with charging $440 per figure...

Hot Toys showed InArt collectors will still shell out $300 for bare minimum effort. Throw in some cheap metal and people will pay $400+.

InArt sees that and deduces they can charge even more if they actually make an effort.

Hot Toys then realizes people will pay more just for fancy sounding rooted hair.

Time is a flat circle that screws all our wallets. :lol

Just wait till HT drops that Artisan Black Widow. They'll have to shut down Hong Kong for the whole day
If HT does decide to do this, I have to see the final production samples before I make the final call.

Pphhtt… Slather some bronzer cream or put her in a tanning booth.

If you don't mind paying secondary market prices. By the time you see final production samples, it would be long since sold out.

I’ll take my risk with TW on that @jodl73 and pray that Philip will gets his **** together and not cut more corners (that’s what I read from the latest post by Justin). :lsvader

I’ll take my risk with TW on that

Not exactly a risk when the end result is pretty much a given. Hint: it's bad.

Wasn't great to buy from them before with how some people were treated and that was before they capsized. Going to them after all that's happened and especially on something super limited? That's just looking for problems.

I actually mentioned that jokingly (but there’s no way that anyone can see that I’m joking unless there a rule that it can be put the text in another colour per rules in this website). I’m not touching TW anymore since my fiasco with fake tracking with Wandavision Liz not too long ago (over 65 days and ZERO update, 2/3 orders fulfilled on delivery. Paid in full over two years ago).

Anyone putting per orders with Philip is giving him free money to keep his shady business alive (which is the truth).

Edit: PP also locked my personal account as they said I was “Illegally spending”money without their consent and they need proof that I did not back in March. Gave them nothing and I’m done with PP and their rules.

Sorry to hear... That's stressful

If you missed out on the Artisan, just grab the sculpted one. You could easily send that to a customizer for rooting and end up with the exact same amount (maybe even cheaper) of money if you were to pay for the Artisan for retail or aftermarket while getting much better hair quality compared to HT

Do you have any recommendations and how to get in touch with them?

Maybe my numbers are off as it’s been awhile since I inquired about it, but in my experience, well done rooted work alone is around the $300 range so base price alone not including tax and shipping, you’ll be over the price of the artisan if you go the regular DX+custom hair rooting. That said, you’ll hopefully get a better looking haired sculpt

I take it you're saying that so you won't have to send over your CW Wanda? ;)

It's more 200-250 and can reach 300 or more depending what artist. But I also said that before realizing how steep the Sideshow price for regular is compared to the actual HK retail ~250. If you cannot get the Artisan, going with the custom route is still the much better choice. That thing is already being milked in the aftermarket and that price jump will only get worse

Unpopular opinion probably, but I am in favor of premium limited releases. I think it helps figures retain their value and adds some excitement. While I'm not trying to make money with this hobby I sure wouldn't be nearly as engaged if every figure dropped in value by half like all my Mandalorian figures have. With these release 'events' I'll get some and miss others, but I much prefer that knowing the ones I get will hold their value. Overproduction kills collectibles.

That said, HT needs to actually release an 'artisan' before too many more preorder events. Agree with others that a premium or artisan figure should improve more than just adding rooted hair.
