I like them. To me these are more like "ordinary folks" who just scrape by, not the best of the best and all that.
One reminds of a Buffy monster and the other is a cameo in the Holiday special… I let you guess which is which :lol

I disliked both. Completely took me out of the universe.
Here is the thing about Obi.
I could make an edit of that show, which would make it WAY better, just by cutting out some stuff. Overall it had some great stuff also, but people focus on the negative most of the time.
For every cool thing there was like 5 bad things IMO. A huge part of that was the bad acting and silly story surrounding Reva. The next worst part was the awful directing during the action scenes.

I went with the flow in the beginning. Read my early post in that thread but the bad just outweighed the good and it became the 2nd worst SW show.
I would say, for me, Boba was the same, although I am not as attached to the character as some. So many people built a headcannon for that guy that was insurmountable.
I am not all that attached but again don’t make a show about a character that has been written about and even shown to be a bad ass (this includes Mando season 2 and not just ESB) and then make him a moron who can’t lead or make an intelligent decision. Bad action, dumb characters, and a lack of respect to the main character killed this show.
I used to say the PT could have been saved with an edit that made the 3 films into one 3 hour film also.....after attempting to watch them recently, I am not so sure an editor can save it at all.
TPM is a perfect example of me being willing to ignore bad stuff for some cool ideas, visuals, action, and a good villain. All of which BOBF was lacking and most of which Obi Wan was missing :(

New pitch to Disney+…

Take ALL of the most annoying Star Wars characters (yes…you too C3PO) and have them all in one spin-off show.

And have The First Order light up the planet they are on…voila problem solved

(KK can appear as one of Holdo’s lackeys)

Wow, I absolutely loved this episode.

My reaction when Ahsoka chucked Shin into that big rock: "You *****!" :lol

I haven't liked SW villains this much in a long time. Ray and Shin are freaking awesome.
This stood out to me. I don't think we've ever seen Ahsoka wield the Force in anger? This was definitely done in revenge because she thought Sabine lost.

Might fit into how DF compared Ahsoka to Gandalf. She had white robes at the end of Rebels showing her enlightenment, but here she was back to gray.

And now she’s gonna return in white.

Nonono the First Order can join them on that planet. Then the OG Empire can blow it up. A Death Star will suffice since it's only one planet.

So unlike the "mural", this is meant to be a "photo", hard to tell are they using a cartoon(ish reimagining), or the actual likeness of Freddy Prinze Jr.?

Also will his "I got a bad feeling abt this" Wolf-boy kid, be force-sensitive, does it follow Kanan will appear to him?

And again will he appear as FPJ? Or a Filoni cosmic-wolf-spirit? :lol

Not arguing good or bad cause I'm enjoing it, but Ballsy and Brave? :lol
This seems like the safest, comfortably mundane, easiest mainstream and familiar, least controversial, least out of the box, show and decision Disney could have made.
And shooting in the volume at this point with what's essentially cosplay looking characters and premise, this show is the embodiment of generic by the numbers, go-to refrances, copy paste enter formula.
Behind or in front of the camera, there is not a single innovative thought or chance being taken here. WTF.

I'd say they were indeed on the annoying side. However, they didn't manage to completely drain my patience or ruin their entire episodes (unlike that tentacle-head abomination in BOBF).

I think it's probably just a photoshop of FPJ.

He's definitely force sensitive.

I could see Dume appearing, but I doubt Kanan will at this point as they've not even so much as mentioned him.

I don’t know if I agree with that.

Only reason the other SW shows were even close to controversial is because they sucked. But it takes little to no balls to make something that has a familiar brand to it.

Sure TCW and Rebels is big with the Super fans but not the average Star Wars fan. It’s why their two best show, Andor and this, have not had great numbers, viewer wise. But shows like Obi Wan and Boba Fett had good numbers even though they were crap. I guess one could say it took balls to ruin two beloved characters lol.

Now I do believe Andor and Ahsoka’s numbers are affected by the crap before it but being about lesser known characters is up there also.

“But Mando was an unknown and the first two seasons did great”, you might say.

True but Mando looked like one of the most popular characters ever so it’s a bit of a cheat. And it was the first SW show on D+

I would say the Ahsoka show is a bit like GOTG was with Marvel. Big budget thrown at lesser known characters to all but the biggest fans. Everyone agrees Marvel took a chance with that one but due to quality films coming before it it was huge.

I agree about the Cosplay statement though. There is a lot of that in all the shows accept for Andor.

Great post!

Disney does need some respect for having the balls to release an expensive series about characters from a cartoon that many many many MANY people have never watched.

They’re either brave or very stupid lol
Thank you so much for that! It’s fun to just be talking about the show in a positive light, and actually saying ‘I hope it goes this way’ or ‘Wow I didn’t see it that way, that’s an interesting perspective’. Lots of aligned opinions though and it’s cool to see so much love for Baylan and Shin. It’s so much more fun than, for instance, what the Kenobi thread turned into at the end. Hopefully this has a happier ending than that one.

The BOBF thread was a barrel of monkeys though, I can’t say anything negative about that chaos.

Wow, I absolutely loved this episode.

Baylan’s reaction was pretty similar :lol

What a talent Ray Stevenson was. Just never enough can be said about him. The expressions he shares with Shin just relay so much history and this moment just adds to their relationship, while also bringing Baylan to a boiling point in the fight. It’s just so great when performances can give you that, and give scenes more meaning. Even Huyang’s comment about a Padawan watching their Master’s back, that’s what Shin was doing in that moment. These kind of through lines are what something like Mando S3 was missing with its constant monster of the week format.

Echoing everyone’s sentiments, I want so much more of Baylan and yet I also kind of hope he meets his end in this season so we don’t have those questions around it. I believe it would also push massive and really character-defining development for Shin which I’d love to see.

More ideas and threads keep coming together in my head about the show and my feelings on it, I feel like this guy:

Sounds pretty much on par for Disney...
