I’m always shocked when I come to these forums and see the Bale haters. IMO and my perception of the general population his Batman is just as iconic as Ledgers Joker. I mean the whole trilogy continues to be held in high regard by fans and general audiences ten years later. Joker was only in one folks.

Most people I talk to about Batman IRL still haven’t even checked out the Affleck stuff and I’ve been pretty shocked by how many non-superfans I know that have zero interest in The Batman either. I think it’s kind of funny RLM doesn’t even care to watch it either lol.

At the end of the day Bale’s Batman still has the most iconic and widely known scenes and lines of any Batman on screen and I don’t think anything in The Batman will catch on like that.

My problem with those movies (and the first one in particular) is just with how they overexplain everything and provide a backstory for every single gadget, every part of his batsuit (even down to the ears), and every fighting technique, to the point where there was no sense of mystery left whatsoever with the character. And he became just a rich guy running around with a bunch of tactical gear borrowed from his company's research division, that he simply had to spray paint black.

The reason I respond more to the Keaton, Affleck and Pattinson versions is because they have much more of that mysterious, mythic, larger than life feel to them. And you never quite know where they come from or how they do what they do.

I liked The Batman but it felt like 3 hours of a guy wandering around on foot and just walking up to doors to enter places then having other people make deductions for him. There was no theatricality or mystery to the character at all IMO.

Does anyone know exactly why Enterbay loss to Hot Toys? I'm pretty new to this hobby but was looking at Enterbay past archive of work and it looks like they made some really great stuff back in the days. How did they ended up where they are now?

Quality control and final product vs proto. Their MIB figures started it all and then the Game of Death BL with the seamless body ended up giving them bad press.

And they werent even producing as much figure as other companies, so it felt like they were just being cheap and they blamed the factories they used and all that crap.

They did have some great Bruce Lee figures at first and incorporated moveable eyes in all of the BL figures except the last GoD. They killed themselves, Hot Toys had nothing to do with them

I'm now in the 'I can't believe I just spent 1k on a figure' club. Ok, two figures. I ordered from Spec which I've never ordered from, but they appear to have good reviews. Any idea what they'll charge for shipping on this (to Eastern US)? I couldn't get a good gauge from the website.

It was a detective movie with Batman in it IMO. I know that it is a Batman movie, so comparisons with other Batman movies are inevitable. TDK (and therefore the Nolan Trilogy) are on a league of their own, vastly different movies. TDK is great, the best. Is it better than The Batman? That depends. I feel lucky to have experienced both and that The Batman finally made me forget the abomination that Snyder did to the character.


Anyway,


This is my first ever doll with real hair. Anything I should worry about? Do I need to maintain this thing as in brush it and stuff like that? god.

I mean I probably have to give it another watch but the detective/mystery aspect of 2022 Batman wasn't even that compelling. Not like Se7en, Oldboy, Memento, etc. Those movies were thrilling and had endings that was worth the build up.

Yeah I have to agree. I absolutely loved the whole style and mood of the movie and all the characters... but the actual storyline didn't work for me nearly as well. Or at least wasn't quite interesting enough to justify the 3 hour runtime.

That amoral violent burnt out version of Batman wasn’t a unique take by Snyder . I enjoyed it for what it was and at least we got some good looking hot toys out of it. Dark knight is still the gold standard for me and this was a good initial offering by queen as based on the reaction to this joker a lot of us still look back pretty favorably on this iteration.
As far as the hair if the maintenance is similar to the queen statues futzing should be minimal unlike hot toys where you have to manage it

Heard the same thing from a friend, granted I haven't seen the movie yet but a 3 hour runtime for what is essentially Se7en but Batman seems a bit excessive.

The only one that remotely comes to mind is Kaiser Soze and he really doesn't do any active Villain-ing.

One of my favorite movies from the 90's, Top 5... but I was looking for someone since Ledger, since 2008.

I wasn't really intending to be negative with that, apologies if it came off that way. It was intended to be a bit self deprecating, too, I'm not under 30, either. I was just trying to say that I don't see much talk about guys like Hans Gruber anymore. I genuinely don't think he'd make many modern top 10 lists, whereas guys like Thanos and probably Loki would. Which isn't a reflection on the relative quality of the characters, simply on their relevance among current audiences. I think Hans Gruber might even struggle to make the top 3 Alan Rickman roles among anybody that grew up at the turn of the century (millennials love Galaxy Quest lol).

But I also don't see the hypocrisy in saying that Gruber's 30 year old single appearance is different than Joker's 80 years of constant appearances. It's not the years, it's the mileage lol

I did look up a few polls -- fast google -- and my beloved Gruber made all of them in the Top 10... but I have no idea how old or who did those. Maybe crotchety old men. I would hope Die Hard and Gruber still resonate for the 30 and under crowd. I always hate to see great movies fade with time. But it happens... to us all.

That's one of the reasons I'm so excited about Ledger's Joker, and the fact he's still so exciting and cool to people of all ages... especially when they keep offering up new Jokers.

No, but then I guess this type of release for this character truly is the "grail" piece that you've been waiting for (or at least post-order you're trying to convince yourself that it is lol), whereas the months and months of your professing excitement for Iron Scavenger was all just lip service. Joost is still hurting over your betrayal.

But not to worry - If you have second thoughts about your purchase between now and its release, I'll pop into the thread to drop reassuring gems like this:

I honestly had no idea this (Ledger) was coming, nor my disinterest in the MCU. But after IW, its all be such a letdown... it definitely hurt my interest in Vulture over time and I see now it was the reason I just couldn't pull the trigger earlier. I was all-in on the Black Order too, but Proxima killed that energy for me. It happens with these figures all the time... certainly the long wait times doesn't help, giving you way too much time to think. If this Ledger wasn't a 3-day window, who knows how fleeting my Ledger love would be.

I will have to live vicariously enjoying your Vulture now... I enjoy looking at it, through your window, at night, while you sleep. Mmmmm... good times.

It's a fine club to belong to.

We all know our true limits now. No more nonesense about "Oh I would never spend $400 for a figure... or $500.... or $600... or $700... or $800... " Now we have all bought ourselves some time before we're "priced out" of the hobby as they say.

I ordered from Spec too. I am also in their group on FB. Todd Johnson, the owner, is active in that group and he said the shipping cost will be a lot cheaper than what they normally charge to
ship their statues. That is all I know as of right now.
