It's nice to see Ledgers performance standing the test of time as I thought it would. Thanos is awesome but I don't think you'll see this type of reaction and engagement for a new figure of him 14 years from now. I remember seeing the trailer for the first time, hearing that voice, seeing that visage and not seeing Ledger at all. And I still dont.
14 years? Hes underselling now

I don’t have a Joker figure and missed out on the Hot Toys (Ledger) Joker. I just purchased the Standard version from OSK and I very happy about this purchase. Based upon the pictures this figure looks great even though it is not their top-of-the-line version. Also this is going to be significantly cheaper than getting used Hot Toys Joker of eBay! I definitely see this as a win!!
I am in the same boat, preordered the standard version and I am happy with it. I think it looks great, the rooted on the other hand looks fantastic but I cannot justify spending 1k for it and I don’t have the shelf space. Also picking up the rooted and selling one figure is not an option for two reasons:

1. Germany is not a good aftermarket, at least from my experience
2. My inner Monk would freak out knowing that the set is not complete anymore 😂

I am happy for all you guys who went rooted and hope it turns out great…and who knows maybe in the future there will be a single figure rooted release.

This has to be the most active thread here in a while, over 3k replies and 142 pages. I wonder if QS anticipated the amount of interest surrounding this figure and potential competition to HT.

It’d be nice if we could get a representative here to share info and answer questions like Asmus does.

The dark knight rises is up there with Batman and robin as worse batman movie for me. Everyone involved just didn’t care and you could tell. Only time I think the movie is good is that last 5 minute montage.

I always taken an inch or so off from official records, but he looks it.

I'd say in the new generations it kinda is. They're more lankly, but they're taller.
Heath’s 185 against Bale’s 183 cm. Not too big of a difference and guess bat boots offset Bale’s height a bit. Heath’s Joker rarely stood straight trough out the movie furthering the height difference between the characters.

Think this figure will go great with the new DX19 Bat. Still undecided what version to go with, I like rooted and sculpted and not sure if I can justify the $1000 tag…. Standalone piece make take the win this time around.

Just watched Joker again for what must be the 9th or 10th time. For me he's easily the best villain since Heath in TDK. If you takeaway the unreliable narrator aspect of him and take what you're being shown at face value and as-is, he's an absolutely compelling one at that.

I can talk for ages about the film and the character, and the absurd reactions to the film, particularly from left leaning people and the response it got from it all. Or how his rise to an agent of chaos is very well-done. I'd love to see a second film just to see how he would be portrayed as a now fully cemented Joker. I just love it all. a part of me doesn't want a sequel, but I don't think it will detract at all to be honest.

Really hoping JND tackle his full clown makeup in statue form, him in Joker gear smoking his cigarette confidently walking past police as they run towards the train would be a fantastic compliment to the first Arthur Fleck they did. But also hoping at least one of these companies does a 1/6th version.

That's probably the side effect of hot toys extreme greed making them over producing that figure. Anyway thanos has clearly had a much more memorable impact than Joker. In about 10 years the kids will he adults and enter the conversation. The problem is the old people always like to pretend that their stuff is better than everything that came after.

I barely check Facebook and I go there and there and people in collector groups are saying wild stuff like the 1/4 Joker sculpt from Hot Toys is better thans this!🤣 And that this will suck, DX11 is better, etc. I mean everyone is free to like what they want but it definitely feels like some people desperately want this release to crash and burn and it's just sad to see.
They’re saying the 1/4 scale is better than this? ****, man. Here I was thinking the market for that thing was dead. Come to Papa. That $1,000 ain’t gonna make itself…:lol

Can you even find the rooted anywhere anymore? I think it's been sold out. I'm sticking with the sculpted myself. I like the character enough to drop ~300€, but not 1K. I've got the DX19 on PO too. A part of me wanted to cancel and wait for a hypothetical QS version, but I'd lose around 100€, and I've already pretty much paid off half of it. Too much hassle for me, considering I don't love the Nolan Trilogy enough to go for that 9.5/10 version, if that ever happens. I'll be fine with my DX19 and sculpted QS Ledger acting as representations.

**** me this thread moves fast!
So as far as I understand these figures only have a 72 hour pre-order window & the number of the haired edition will be limited to the orders taken in that time?
There seems to be some controversy regarding Toys Wonderland?

So - someone please pro/con this with me.
I REALLY want the rooted figures but are they worth the price being asked?
Is it worth getting any of the other figures if you're not going for the rooted version? I still have my DX11
Do we think the prototype will be close to production?
Will this degrade quickly?
Do we think there will be better offerings of this character in the near-to-middle-future?

To be honest, I was saving some money for the Blitzway Hellboy statue - which do you think would be the better purchase?

It’s easy. If you can afford the root, go that route. If you don’t mind sculpt, then go that route. No matter what edition you get, you’re still getting a quality piece.

Just took a closer look at the alternate sculpted hair sculpt and you can clearly see where the cover for the PERS sits, at least that’s what I think it is. Looks kinda strange like the hair is combed from the back of his head.

I own quite a few rooted hair pieces - I've not moved with any of them yet, but for me they've all held up. The key is this: DO NOT RESTYLE AND TOUCH IT A LOT. If you're not a pro at restyling and resetting hair stop touching it. Move a couple strands here and there but the hair is pretty great for the most part after the artists have styled them. Aside from adjusting some strands here and there, and puffing up hair where in travel it has flattened, there is no reason for you to touch the hair. The more you touch it the more it's disturbed, you touch it a lot over time hairs will split from the product used etc. and lose shape and the natural strands.

If you treat the hair like an articulated piece of the figure it will become lifeless and disturbed. And this is one reason I'm not big on the PERS system for the rooted hair. Depending on how it's implemented I'll set the eyes once and probably never adjust them again. Being able to always move the eyes at the behest of potentially ruining the most expensive part of the figure is not worth it.

Oh man...this is a tough situation brother...

My general thoughts:

I POd 2 of the deluxe (the rooted version) for 2 reasons. 1-I want to show my full support for this company. I love their ambition, their mission statement and passion. GRANTED they are a new company and I, along with MANY others are essentially taking a big risk by dropping 1K USD on an....well, unknown. But the faith and hope is there and we believe they will deliver.

2-reason I got the rooted was...I compared the prices between the premium and Deluxe. It’s just a $300 difference and I figured...why the hell not. It DOES give it an extra Layer of realism. Now I know $300 is a lot...you can get a whole figure for that, plus change. So you’ll have to decide for yourself if you want that extra layer of realism or not.

IMO, the sculpted hair looks awesome too. But I wanted to show my support for this company (oh god I truly hope they can deliver) and I just wanted a “premium” looking joker to grace my display.

I like hellboy...but I’m more of a fan of joker. Hellboy statues and figures are far and few. So I’d say, just get the standard ver of joker which is cheaper by comparison, and you can also get Hellboy.

Good luck man!

POed the deluxe. I’m sure this has put a dent in the HT Joker pricing in the secondary. Still I may sell the regular and hold on to the interrogation version.

You didn't think I had it in me, did you? :)
No, but then I guess this type of release for this character truly is the "grail" piece that you've been waiting for (or at least post-order you're trying to convince yourself that it is lol), whereas the months and months of your professing excitement for Iron Scavenger was all just lip service. Joost is still hurting over your betrayal. :lol

But not to worry - If you have second thoughts about your purchase between now and its release, I'll pop into the thread to drop reassuring gems like this:
