It looks like fire behind them, not lava. Maybe Vader will get burned again. :lol

I was hoping they didn't have Obi and Vader fighting in this show because it would further diminish their fight in ANH. Their fight in ANH was already underwhelming by today's standards, but now having them in what I'm guessing is going to be a spectacle of a match, it will not only make their final battle in ANH even more dated by comparison, but also not matter as much because it will no longer be the first time they see each other since Ep 3, when Anakin died and became Vader.

It looks like a desperate attempt to get people watching just like how Star Trek Discovery brought back Mr. Spock.

And how RO added the Vader scene at the end.

"Several transmissions were beamed hand-delivered to this ship by Rebel spies..."

This is distinctly possible. But I'm gonna try and be open-minded about it. I cannot deny that the idea of Ewan's Obi-wan fighting against a suited-up Darth Vader is quite exciting and is thus understandable why they probably haven't been able to resist the temptation.

But what if..what if...they actually manage to enhance ANH and perhaps ROTS too retroactively. Have ROTS and ANH ever really felt like they blended well? Nope. It's why I've never liked ROTS. But Lucas created a problem in the first place by retconning himself during the OT - the fact that Vader and Anakin weren't always the same person. In ANH Ben's seeming total detachment from Anakin - choosing to call him 'Darth' - is it plausible if that's really their first encounter since Mustafar? We know the real reason was because at that point in Lucas's writing Darth Vader was not Anakin and the lines were written and delivered accordingly. But if we forget about that we have to ask - would Old Ben really not make another attempt to access the Anakin he once knew? Well, maybe if there is a further battle between them - after ROTS but prior to ANH - it will establish beyond doubt why he doesn't do so and instead focusses on saving Luke.

I like this and in addition, if they make the battle something between the acrobatics of ROTS and the limited movement of ANH, that could actually help narrow the gap as well. Some dialog where they're verbally sparring and Anakin says "I no longer recognize that name, I am Darth Vader now.." and Kenobi replies with "Fine, DARTH...so be it" or something like that, could really tie the ANH line together quite well. Ps. I am no screen writer, so don't trash my dialog... :)

That’s pretty good!

Horrible dialogue, Darth ;)

But seriously, I like your way of thinking. Now I need something like this to be in the show.

You guys do understand that concept art doesn't mean it's in the show. Marvel has had numerous ideas explored in concept art that never made it in. Until we get a behind the scenes shot or a clip that indicates this makes it in, we may never see it realized beyond someone's art concept.

Great ideas guys. It would indeed be pretty awesome if they create a better bridge between those scenes in ROTS and ANH. Equally awesome would be to fix the continuity error that George created by never having Anakin say that he wanted Luke to have his lightsaber when he was old enough and that Uncle Owen wouldn't allow it.

Maybe have a scene where Obi-Wan is reflecting on the good times and they show a flashback where a younger Anakin is pressing him about why Jedi can't marry. Have Obi-Wan explain how it causes attachments that conflict with the Jedi creed to which Anakin replies, "Well I think that's wrong. I think Jedi should be encouraged to love and have families and pass down what they have learned to their offspring. I would love to be able to one day pass down my lightsaber to my own child." "Oh Anakin what am I gonna do with you...." Or what have you.

Maybe the show opens with Obi-Wan on Tatooine remembering that moment while holding his friend's lightsaber. He then looks up at the horizon (in the direction of the Lars Homestead) and the next scene is him meeting with Owen and Beru while Luke is a toddler and Owen is saying "Absolutely not! I don't care if he's the right age for you Jedi, he's too young to have his head filled with such nonsense. He needs his family. And I don't ever want to hear of this again. If you want to go on some damn idealistic crusade against the Empire that you helped create then go right ahead. We'll have no part of it."

Sadly I think that we're just setting ourselves up for disappointment by even theorizing about such things, lol.

Khev, I think you and I have a career as a (very marginal) dialog writing team! Although you did pretty well capture what a d*ck Owen was! :)
