I dunno what to believe , my redStar 1689 has been a Top Rated 99% positive feedback since 2006 but I am now past 180 days claim period for my Hot toys Boba Fett 40th anniversary and he hasn't replied to my last message from 5 days ago.I can't believe ebay would let sellers do this with impunity because now ebay would actually be accomplices to the scam. . The only thing I have are his previous replies to my messages proving he hasn't sent anything if it comes down to contacting ebay directly. Dunno if that will help .Do you have to contact ebay or paypal ?

At some point ebay had delisted and deleted my item from my purchase history so I could not even file a claim or leave feedback but they put it back in for some reason but now I'm past 180days anyways

I've never been scammed in 20 years using ebay. I even had a seller once refund me a year later because he could not send a parcel due to custom issues.

So even if I do manage to get a refund I've ruined my chances of getting this figure at non-scalper price so i lose either way

They will not help you in any way since you are already behind the deadline. Your only option is to contact your bank and they can issue a chargeback via card company. I wrote that few posts ago, it depends on your country/state laws how long you have the option to dispute a payment.

I was thinking to confront the seller and sending him this message but I'm not sure if it will help or worsen the situation. What do you guys think?

"I sent you a message a week ago asking for an update about my item but you didn't reply.

I am beginning to think I've been scammed and you will never send the item and I lost my money. I think you exploited ebay policy loopholes by making me wait past the 180 days refund period so I can't file a dispute to get my money back and can't leave negative feedback to your account. I trusted you because you are a Top Seller with 99% positive rating but I think it's just a cover you use to scam people with expensive items. I never encountered a dishonest seller in 20 years using ebay so I didn't expect this.

But if you are honest and the delays are real, please refund my item because it's causing me too much stress now. If you don't reply, I will try to contact ebay and explain the situation. At this point it's all I can do.

I am very dissapointed and you have ruined ebay for me."

Pointless effort. As already stated, they very well know what they can and can't do. At this point, he can just laugh in your face. eBay won't care. Read this thread, save yourself time.

eBay scammer lwstore2013 never responded to the return request I submitted with eBay 4 days ago. Therefore, eBay has ruled in my favor and will refund me the $134.69 I spent on the Selina Kyle Catwoman 1/6 figure.
This scumbag had no problem sending me multiple "Hello Friend" messages over the past two months in which he kept reassuring me not to worry. And now the scumbag doesn't respond to the return request from eBay. Of course he was just stringing me along.
How come buyers who file a claim with eBay are not able to leave negative feedback about the seller. I tried to leave negative feedback since last Monday to warn other buyers but the option for leaving feedback was taken away. Is that what happens when a buyer opens up a return request?

Still weird my seller has existed since 2006 and there is not one bad mention of him in action figures geek forums. I tried googling and nothing shows up.

As other has said in this thread, these “sellers” tactics are very complex and engineered not only to fool us but to also confuse and camouflage them from eBay. since starting this thread I haven’t purchased any further figures through eBay because of my bad experience. I thought after being an eBay member for nearly 20 years I could see scammers fairly easily. These guys have shot my confidence in ebay‘s so called buyer protection policies. It turns out that like most others large organisations, all they really care about is making their cut on sales and nothing much else.

I was on the phone 1/2 hour with an ebay rep and your right they can't do anything to get me refunded on this item because of the 180 days.

They gave me an item number from the seller so I can contact him, then say that if they do not reply and refund the money I will flag the seller's account for ebay policy violation so it might possibly put him under more scrutiny in the future.

Try going through Paypal then. I didn't even have the option in eBay to get any sort of refund/return. So, I made a Paypal claim against them, with screenshots of my eBay Sent box as proof that I had already contacted the seller before filing the claim and I got my money back in 2 weeks. I think I was just passed the 180day mark as well but Paypal was still able to get me my money back.

Tried to talk to PayPal and my bank. There is nothing they can do .Scam complete.

Given how easy it is to do I wouldn't be surprised it became more widespread

NEVER buying this type of item on ebay again

This was credit card or bank balance transfer? Surprised if it's CC because last year when I spoke to my CC company (I have two, both said same thing) and they seemed to say they could do a chargeback beyond 6 months.

Personally, I find that eBay is run by robots and paypal is pretty much useless if anything at all goes wrong - the reason I just go straight to CC company.

When I did this most recent chargeback, even though my CC company temporarily got fooled by this seller sending them the bogus tracking (tiny bubble envelope he sends to "prove" he's sent the item,) it was awesome to directly be able to speak to a stern woman in Florida at the CC company who said she'd get on it. EBay and paypal are like dealing with someone on the moon.

And cherry on top? Just after my scame was resolved, I get an ebay e-mail touting the same item from the same seller. Run by robots. I will still buy from time to time but I'm kinda done with eBay.

Hmm, it was my bank checking account linked to paypal not a credit card.

I feel like I let myself be scammed. I should have filed a claim long ago reading the warning signs in this thread. But my trust in the ebay system was so high having no problems for 20 years that I was just blinded and ignored this kind of thing could actually happen.

I'm usually super paranoid in general regarding anything transactional on the internet and I still fell for it. Only PayPal and amazon have my credit card number and I don't even give myself internet access to my main bank account just in case hackers are smarter than me and manage to get into it despite all the precautions I can take. I have a special bank account with less than 200$ in just for internet usage and set my credit card limit at 1000$. I would NEVER EVER have an online only bank account like Tangerine or whatever. God knows what nightmare it would be trying to resolve an issue if something went wrong.

Today I figured out I couldn't even get into my paypal account because there was a cell phone code security thing that was unskippable and I don't have a mobile phone. I never gave them permission to activate 2FA. There is not even a phone number on the Paypal site you can call without loggin in and I had to find it in google. And when talking to the ebay and paypal reps on the phone and told them about the type of scam, I felt they didn't give a **** and always answered in a manner to protect the company first. They refused to acknowledge the loopholes in the feedback system and changed the subject.

I'm in an area where a mobile doesn't always work, but luckily on the Paypal login there's an option to select a landline call instead.

Ahh it might be that you've had no luck b/c it was a checking account rather than a Credit Card. Credit Card companies (regardless if through your personal bank or another company), are usually quicker to help on fraudulent/ scam charges because it's technically their money that you used to pay for the item rather than directly your own money like with a checking account. That's what I've heard and have witnessed personally.

Either way, I'm sorry all the avenues you've tried hasn't worked out in your favor. That really sucks.

Well redstar finally answered and said he shipped my figure. I did send him a message similar to what I wrote earlier and it seems to have gotten results.

IF I do receive it in good condition I will let everyone know in this thread he is an honest seller after all.

Now I'm thinking if it was an intended scam he wouldn't have bothered to reply. He said coronavirus slowed down all the shipments this year. We'll see.

Really, they told me on the phone they don't send codes to landlines. As long as I can pay my ebay invoices without hassle I don't need to log into my account proper. But if they ever bother me with a code while paying for a purchase I will just use my credit card directly on ebay from then on. I read ebay will not share your CC info with sellers, which was my main worry.

i wish you luck but REDSTAR has said he shipped my item 3 times each time no tracking number & no contact till i chase him & then we repeat the cycle.

I asked for the tracking number

I still don't have much hope but but at this point there's nothing more I can do. He knows ebay can't help me get my money back.

After reading the thread in more detail I still consider myself scammed and don't expect to receive anything. His reply is probably so I don't report his store *just in case* ebay actually takes action.

if the coronavirus situation cause real delays for these guys, is it possible they are telling the truth and we'll all get our items eventually? From what I read these sellers used to be reliable until recently. Why would they burn their business to the ground as we are all becoming aware of the situation.
