Dude it's impossible for Disney to not recast, chadwick boseman was great as Black Panther, but he is only ONE actor. We live now in a Black Lives Matter world, THE BLACK PANTHER represented way more than that, the character represents a whole Culture, Race and Social Justice.
I bet he would be mad it the caracter be buried with him. The best way to honor him is to recast and put the character as the head of the MCU.

"Race" is a concept that is not valid :wink1:

Anyone just pick up the Throne too? lol I Just got T'Chaka along with T'Challa and the Throne.

People need to get over the idea of them recasting TChalla. It simply isnt going to happen. Here is this article from 2018 with a quote from one of the producers very explicitly stating that they are open to having different characters take up the mantle. The higher-ups working on the movie surely would have know about his condition at this point. Quote:

One thing I like to tell Ryan is, the Black Panther is a mantle as much as it is a person, so we?re not restricted by anything, because the truth is, there?s a lot of different ways to go back to Wakanda and have a good time and continue to explore the themes that made the first film so resonant.

It's unfortunate that he passed, and remarkable that he carried this mantle and physicality through four films despite the condition.

I think the most respectful path is to have a new person take the mantle, no different than the way we will see Sam take the title of Captain America. It respects the initial role and allows the series to continue. I don't think this is a situation fitting for a Spartacus-esque transition.

Well put

Id rather have a recast actor than a mantle passing. Boseman was awesome as BP but life moves on. We need a TChalla BP.

Dude they will recast, T'challa is the most important person in the black panther mythos.
He will always be remembered as the first Black Panther, but he cant be the last, he is maybe the most important caracter in the MCU in terms of representative meaning in our world.
The caracter is bigger than Chadwick Boseman, thats why i dont understand why people dont get this. He was awsome but now its time for a new T'challa.

ps: i wanted Okoye to be Black Panther in the absence of t'challa in the time between Infinity War and Endgame

I never followed the comics, but was there a character that ever took over the mantle after T'Challa? Or was it usually him or Shuri?

Chadwick Bosemank?s tragic passing is just really hard to process.

My 2 cents re: recasting: I think everyone will understand why T?Challa is different in a sequel. I also think that the character is important to young children and simply pushing him aside without building to it like they did with Cap and Iron Man would be disrespectful to everything Chadwick did to bring him to life.

But man, I think the whole world wishes that magical Infinity Stones were a real thing right now.

Kaspar Cole was the new black panther at the end of the Chris Priest run many years ago

He was barely Black Panther, later he became White Tiger but since the Priest run he was kinda forgotten. Shuri is the only one who had a decent run in the mantle beside T'challa.

There's absolutely no way they'll recast T'Challa. There will be other Black Panthers and I'm sure we've already seen whoever they'll choose on screen in the MCU already. But recasting would be a terrible decision.

Honestly the issue of representation isn’t all that high on my radar, but I feel that the character in this case needs to be further developed in cinema. I actually enjoyed the first solo film quite a bit. Especially the first half were it depicted a completely new world to explore. It was only a small section of the final act that was disappointing because of lacklustre CGI.

It appears that the argument against recasting is that by recasting you’re in some way disrespecting the actor who has unfortunately passed away. While I do believe they should wait a bit before announcing a new actor, with possibly delaying the film until 2023, I do believe that the part the actor brought to the masses should be recasted so that the chacacter can reach even greater heights in the MCU as there is more story to be told.

Why a terrible decision? You know that T'challa is one of the biggest character of Marvel right? Did you see a bunch of children posting photos honoring Boseman death with Black Panther toys and stuff? WHY KILL A CHARACTER WHO INSPIRED THIS KIND OF REACTION WORLDWIDE?

If you like Chadwick Boseman you should HONOR him by accept that his character can grow beyond his death, thats is what he wanted, he put his soul and health(he already knew he had cancer) to give this character life for the first time ever, now that he is gone, he would like T'challa to inspire more people and grow beyond him.

Unfortunately thanks to the death of the Boseman, T'challa may come to receive the attention and glory he deserves, in front of the marvel universe, commanding the next phases.

In my opinion I think the fact that BP wears a mask is an opportunity. What I think would be a viable solution, that would retain the T'Challa character but also bring in a new actor for that role, would maybe have BP sustain some gnarly facial injury in the beginning of the film...perhaps an explosion or something along those lines. And then Shuri could "save" him but it would require her to reconstruct his face? I dunno...just thinking out loud here.

I bet they will choose John David Washington to be the new T'challa

Dude he understand the meaning behind the character he was playing, do you really think that a guy who battle cancer for four years in silence would be a greedy type of person?
He knew the eventually if this ****up desease got the better of him, that the character would be his legacy and live on forever to the world, he was an actor after all.
