There are way too many great guitarists for me to pick just one as the best.

Hendrix, Page, Clapton, Eddie Van Halen are just a few of my favorites.

i don't know anything about those technical bluegrash or acoustic picking guys. I'm just aware of the rockers.

For me, my favorites are Gilmour from Floyd, Petrucci from Dream Theater, Eric Johnson, and for obscurer rock bands, Steve Rothery from Marillion. He's got some of the best melodic and tasteful solos I know.
