Okay that's a nice word salad but none of it changes the fact that the actual history of this franchise, not conjecture, not anecdotal assumptions, is that everybody loved the OT when it came out and still loved it 20 years later and most people bashed the PT when it came out yet it still has a fanbase 20 years later. There's no precedent for a SW trilogy, loved or hated, to not be popular decades later when the dust settles. So what you're claiming is that the 40 years of established precedent has no bearing on what we can expect from the future because the hate toward the ST is different than the hate for the PT, which was somehow proven by the Resistance cartoon sucking and Marvel being more popular.

Nah, I'm not buying it. Lots of things were more popular than the PT back in the day (Spider-Man, Harry Potter, LOTR, etc.) so not being "first" doesn't negate something from having longevity or a resurgence years later. Plus the ST had one heck of a two-year honeymoon with TFA that the PT did not enjoy thanks to the backlash hitting instantly on the arrival of TPM. As for the backlash against TLJ, kids that are new to SW don't care about Luke being a reclusive hermit who wasn't helping in the war just like we didn't care when Ben and Yoda did the same thing in the OT.
You weren’t a kid back then. We all loved the pt and embraced it. We loved the video games and everything that came out. We played lightsabers and dressed up on Halloween as pt characters. We talked about anakin and everything. We were excited about revenge of the sith. It was a cool experience. It was a continuation of a beloved franchise. It still sells today.
Maybe the st will gain the popularity but as of right now it’s not popular at all. But people do change. Look at the asm franchise. People hated it now they want a third movie

When ANH (aka "Star Wars") hit theaters the only person on the Millennium Falcon who had an existing connection to Vader was Obi-Wan.

The ESB retcon of Luke being his son is of course a legendary twist that is a high point of the Saga but George's insistence on connecting anyone and anything to Anakin with each new film shrank the galaxy down to a level interconnectedness that was beyond absurd.

This is an awesome post and shows the ridiculousness that Star Wars has become.

It is not growing, it is shrinking.

ST haters really do have selective memory when it comes to this stuff. Jake Lloyd's life was ruined over the deafening fan backlash. Ahmed Best almost turned to suicide, and Hayden was considered an absolute joke whose career fared worse than Ridley's has post-SW. What made it worse for PT Anakin was that he was tainting one of the most beloved characters in the history of cinema compared to Rey who's just a clean slate and easily compartmentalized away if you don't like her.

Well that's factually untrue.

And it doesn't change the fact that adult fans who hated the PT 20 years ago all "knew for a fact" that "there's no way that current kids will grow up loving the PT like we loved the OT" and yet here we are.
yup, I have said this many times before. Adults seeing the PT mostly hated it upon the dust settling. The kids loved it, and they grew into adults whom love it. Something the adults who saw PT in theaters just cannot comprehend.

Its the same with the ST. Although by the time the ST came out , action figure where a thing of the past for kids, who mostly play with digital now.

I can tell you the ST is popular with some kids, but the huge fandom or the ST and the much lesser PT, will never be seen again.

I can say , at Galaxys Egde in Disneyworld, Kylo and Rey are very popular, although. nowhere near as popular as Chewie or Vader.

And this is why it was so refreshing, when the Mandoverse was Skywalker-free.

I enjoyed Lukes appearance at the end of Mando season 2 even. But also, bro stay in your LANEEEEEEEE

It was a terrific cameo moment for Luke, but it should have stayed that way. There should have been at least a season or two where Grogu and Luke stayed off camera presumably doing their Jedi thing. But Lucasfilm couldn't effing help themselves. They couldn't even wait for the next season to start :slap :slap :slap
