The more I read observations and viewpoints by others within the this thread along with the idiocy of how the social media engagement occurred due to Nick, etc., I'm totally turned off by the official figures.

I wish the legitimate and real design team that many of us are familiar with within the 1:6 hobby would have taken the "inspired" route and produced limited custom runs like they did for other offerings in the past instead of taking the official licensed route.

I don't demand or expect others to agree, etc. This is my perspective.

I would love to, but I can't afford that up front right now, I think it looks fantastic, probably the best figural portrait of Stallone to date.

Not much of an unboxing if we're being honest, but the shots of the figure look pretty good. I agree that the sculpt isn't 100%, but it evokes the first film better than what we've gotten so far.

Price is about what I expected. It's a nice set, should make for a tasteful display.

Same, but it's this or 3-4 times the amount on eBay via resellers :(

I’m going to but I’m a little put off having to pay it all now.
100% concur - wish there was another option but it's this or miss out.

I think it looks good--great upgrade on the Hot Toys release from way back. Pricey, but hey it's officially licensed so there you go. HS looks pretty spot on too.

I think my only gripe is that the knife blade looks like poorly-painted plastic. Chroming it won't be difficult, but it should've been done at the factory for $260.

EDIT: Wonder if the fingernails will be painted on the final.

I'll likely pull the trigger (really wanting COBRA though) as this is the best likeness I've seen outside ThreeZero's Rambo III figure.

Devil's advocacy kicking in: any thoughts about an unproven company's figure line when it comes to prototype-versus-production results? Remember the Sideshow fiasco(s) regarding Nathan Drake, Snake Plissken, etc, etc, etc. . ...

This is essentially $280 worth of blind faith - I think THAT Is what's holding me back more than anything else at this point...

Except the First Blood knife doesn't really have a chrome look to it.

Fair point, but the butt and blade's edge could still use some shine. Just looks like gunked-up plastic instead of steel.

This is where I'm at. Requiring an upfront payment is very different from how these things usually work. I could stomach an NRD of $20-$30, but $260 for a set of pictures is a little zesty.

NECA is a big corporation and requires full payment when you buy through their online store, so it isn't totally surprising to see a startup business doing it.
