Bond should never care that a car goes 0-60 in 3.2 seconds.

That blonde has to be the most plain looking Bond chick ever, she looks like Taylor Swift...yuck!

Oh well, considering that most Bond movies suck this doesn't have to work hard to be decent.

I think she's more attractive than T Swift but she is pretty bland compared to the last Bond girl (especially)

But she was pretty bad ass in Mission Impossible 4 so I'm sure she'll be great :dunno

I fear another Mandarin twist.

Honestly, I never thought Waltz was a great choice for Blofeld so I'd be happy if they got someone better and he was just a ruse. What I fear is if he IS a ruse, and then they don't show you Blofeld... just a cigarette still burning in the ash tray or something. Like the guy behind Scientology. So we got to wait another movie to see who the hell they cast.

The rumor is that the "real" Blofeld is

New or old... or all?

This is the most provocative statement you've ever said. I await your explanation.

At this many movies it's really not that difficult to maintain an overall poor average.

Sure there are the classics, SC having the best of the classics while RM having 1 or 2 at most and even then his best are just ok, Dalton and Brosnan 1 ok entry each.

Certainly nostalgia and charm helps smooth out (not eliminate) many of the bumps but until Casino Royale came along Bond was a big joke for many years with Bourne taking the spot in the limelight.

I credit CR for bringing me back in that's for certain but even then QS was crap and while SF was an improvement it still wasn't as good as CR for me, shame Ledger died, he could've played Silva and had himself caught again.

But no doubt that DC has cemented himself right up there with SC, both are equals in their own era.

I guess Cold Wars help make Bond better (I'm looking at you Russian nuke bomber intercepted near California 2 weeks ago).

Advancements in stunts and cgi are also playing a role in the quality improvement.

Many of the Bonds are difficult to watch. :lol

OK, I'll give you all that. Your statement seemed much harsher than your explanation.

Bond hasn't been really good since "Spy Who Loved Me" and that film had a lot of goofiness to it. All through the 80's and 90's it seemed like a tired franchise that had run its course... until Craig reinvigorated the franchise with a whole new style, although he hasn't yet had his "Goldfinger" or "Spy Who Loved Me"... I hope "Spectre" gives him that monster hit... but it looks like it might be as subdued as all his others.

I like Craig alot -- best Bond since Connery -- but all his movies, including Casino Royale, have a snail's pace and an unnecessary dourness to them. If only an entire film could move like that Mollaka footchase in the beginning of Casino Royale -- best action sequence of all the Craig's so far. It had energy, excitement, great music, and some cool moves.

Not that I'm a total Bond aficionado, but I thought Skyfall was that huge hit? It did massive numbers and it seemed like every other person was saying it was the best Bond ever or one of them. Even longstanding fans. I loved it too.

You're right. It's one of the few films to make more than a billion, and the first and only 007 film to make a billion. It really was a good Bond film because it was modern, yet it had some classic elements from the original Sean Connery films. It also had a good villain, even though it reminded me of the Joker.

They'd been trying to get the feel that the Connery era had back for so long and I thought in Skyfall they finally achieved it.
