BESTA love and idea thread

Hey guys I have about 10 pf's that I need to display and was looking at these Bestas. When I look at the Ikea website there is a ton of different models of Bestas. Can somebody give me a link to the right ones I need to get. Thanks for any help.

Well, how do you want your display to look like? The most common one I've seen used is the $150 one https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80102132 but I've seen members make fantastic displays with the other models as well. Just make sure you get the Bestas with:

Width: 47 1/4 " or 23 5/8 "
Depth: 15 3/4 "

Well that model looks good. Right now I just have my pieces everywhere and Maul wont even fit on a shelf so I have to just put him on a table top. The bestas have fully adjustable shelves right?

Has anybody ever tried to put some type of lock on the Besta? I'm buying the glass doors to keep them closed but fear that my four and one year old will still manage to get in.

I have the same problem , so I bought these "locks" at Ikea. Not the prettiest, but it works. Not sure it´s "four year-old" proof though...

Do you know if the Thing PF will fit inside a Besta?

Yup. It will fit in the open. If you have glass doors, then no. The doors won´t shut.

Has anyone tried setting a detolf on top of a single cube besta?

I tried it but it didn´t work. The Detolf is simply too heavy...

Wooden shelves are fully adjustable and even replaceable with glass ones if you so desire.

This isn't really a BESTA question, but in lieu of the BESTA not being able to support a detolf resting on top of it...does anyone know of any Ikea piece that could support the weight and offer display space for PFs? Preferably with a glass door option? Thanks in advance!

The only thing I've seen proof of working for support is the Expedit. It would not hold a PF, though, unless you modified it somehow.

You could try some of the Effektiv pieces (add-on high), as they would fit the PFs, but I'm not sure if it would support the Detolf or not. Seems like they should, being they're made for office equipment/books and all.

I gave up with the shelving struggle and picked up the tall doors. Don't love them but don't hate them either. They will seal the dust out well (#1 priority) and I can move the shelves as needed.

Am def gonna darken/weather the aluminum so it's not so glaring...

For some reason I just can't get past the door seams down the middle, kinda takes away from the statue. Y don't the make doors like the Vegby again!

Can you get 2 PFs in one unit

I just opened my collectibles for the first time and I was able to fit Gandalf the Grey PF and Legolas PF together. I have one of the big units that's approximately 75"H x 47"W. I'll have to set the next shelf quite a bit higher than I'd like to since Gandalf is about 28" but they do fit. I have the Uruk-hai Berserker on another shelf but I don't think I'll be fitting anything else in with him. Galadriel refuses to stand next to him anyway because he smells

actually John McClane, I realized I wasn't quite sure what you were asking about. I figured you meant one unit as being one shelf. Is that what you're talking about? I think I might hit Ikea tomorrow and grab a few more things. Want to get some doors, some lights and then one of the smaller 25"H by 47" units. I still have to open up all my collectibles and find out just how much more space I'll need.

What kind of lights are you thinking about getting?

Centimeters?? What am I supposed to do with centimeters and what is that funny "L" symbol.
Hehe. I checked the NA site for that unit and i would think it should be able to hold 2 pfs. It will of course depend on which pfs you want I can't see fitting anything else in with the Uruk-hai Berserker and Gandalf the Grey is over 25" tall but Wyatt and Doc should work.

At Ikea right now...time to do some shoplift...err...I mean shopping
