Hi everyone.

I'm sure a lot of you, like me, who are generally too lazy or don't feel you have the skills necessary to create your own Dioramas, were over the moon when Sideshow announced 1:6 Scale, non film specific, figure environments.
Like me I guess a fair few were disappointed when said environments ended up being overpriced bases (IMHO).

The other night I chopped a hole in a chunk of foam core board to make an improvised blast door for my new Clone trooper to hang around. I was pretty pleased with the results...

There are a few more over in the "Sideshow versus Medicom clones" thread if you want a peek!

Anyhow, this got me thinking that it shouldn't be too hard to knock up some half decent scenery/environments/backdrops at very little cost.

So bear in mind anything posted here isn't pretending to be scene, or even film specific! These are going to be simply "enchantments" for the important things - the figures.

I may never finish this first one, or I might churn out loads, let's see where it goes!!!

1) Gather together a pile of old tut, and enlist some help. A rough sketch I find helps at this stage. Failing that a large Vodka does the trick!
<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/?action=view&current=Scene1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/Scene1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

2) Half an hour later with the scalpel and it's taking shape!
<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/?action=view&current=Scene2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/Scene2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

3) A few dabs from the glue gun and it's holding together... so far.
<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/?action=view&current=Scene3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/Scene3.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

4) A bit of dramatic lighting and some judicious cropping and we're getting somewhere.
<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/?action=view&current=Scene4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/Scene4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

5) Now you can play!!!
<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/?action=view&current=Scene5.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/Scene5.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/?action=view&current=Scene6.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/Scene6.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/?action=view&current=Scene7.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/Scene7.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/?action=view&current=Scene8.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/Scene8.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/?action=view&current=Scene9.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/6th%20scale%20secenery/Scene9.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Like I said the sets aren't really the important things here, I don't even think they need painting with the right lighting on them, but we'll see.
I'm aiming to add side walls with channelled lighting and a more detailed control panel, also the blast door needs to be on a sliding mechanism of some sort rather than BluTac!

Hope you all like, feel free to tell me I'm great... or rip it to shreds! LOL I don't mind either way!

I like the floor, what are you using for that??

A sheet of Gloss Black Astrolux board - You can pick it up in most Art shops. only cost a couple of quid. I need to get some more, that's my last sheet and it's getting a bit tatty!

did you cut those pieces by hand?!?! thats great intricate work for doing it by hand...awesome blast door

G

:bouncin Yeah baby.... Totally cool Dg really love it. Foam board is something I have never used but it look brilliant and great shots...
:)

Thanks guys.

I'm going to try to spend a bit of time on the side Walls tonight.

And yeah, the foam core is brilliant. Really light, rigid, easy to cut and shape and Bart of all cheap!

Looking great Darth goat hiccups!

I have a bunch of foam board lying around... I had thought of using it to make something similar, but I never did...

May have to now!

Did you get the foam board locally DG, or on line... Can not wait to see tonights work!!

I actually ordered it to make some signs for a client, I only ended up using half a dozen sheets for the job but had to buy a whole pack.

Now I have about 30 SRA1 Sheets of 5mm Foam core board!! Whoo Hoo!

I'm in the office on Tuesday so I'll dig out the invoice and see what it cost, but I know it was dirt cheep, worked out at about £2 or £4 a sheet.

Art shops really rip you off on this stuff I saw 2 x A3 sheets for like £10 the other day :google

Admittedly I get a trade discount from the supplier, and not everyone would want 40 sheets of massive Board in their house - (I know you would Dorgs but I think Debs might disagree!)

If you want a box I'll see about ordering through work and delivery to your address - I'll check prices first though.

Oh and as for tonight... Violet got up this morning and saw the Blast Doors, Tut Tutted and said, "Daddy! You should have made me a rocket!"
So first thing to be done tonight is a 1m high Tin Tin style rocket! If it stands up I'll chuck a picture in here LOL

LOL Violet is ace. I told Liam he will have to make an appearance soon!
As for the foam board 30 sheets of SRA2 OMG ...... Thats enough to build a cruiser!!!!!!!

But Tin Tin Rocket will be good... humm 30 sheets... its gonna be a big Rocket.
