How many of those people are actually pre-ordering, though? I very much doubt it's a 1:1 relationship, or even a representative sample. At the end of the day, the units moved will rule the day.
Same can be said about those on here who criticize the sculpt with no intention of buying it.

I have to say, I was wondering why people were signing praises about this sculpt.
Well it's not like the actress is so famous that the majority of people are going to pick up on these discrepancies that people are pointing out. And let's face it, when you shrink them down to 1/6 they're going to be much less noticeable.

It’s because they love the character, and so do I. But that doesn’t make it a good figure.

It’s the converse of people who didn’t like the source material, but can’t admit when it’s a good figure. I wish we could get to a place where we evaluate a figure on its merits and not on polarizing opinions (in either direction) about the show or movie.

TL/DR: Shin rocks, but this doesn’t look like Shin.

No not famous but people still fell in love with her character and only naturally want a figure that captures her accurately. And that is more than just a generic representation.

This figure is a prime candidate for a custom rooted hair mod. After WB100 Wonder Woman and now Gandalf, its just so hard to go back to plastic sculpted hair. For me thats hurting the likeness more than anything else. They need to improve the paint on the hair, in particular, the bangs/fringe could have more shading to show depth because right now it looks too toyish.

I understand the character didn't really warrant the Artisan treatment cause that probably would've added another $100 to the price. This is one figure where I feel motivated to get the custom job done, I think that would really put it over the top.

Well sure but the slightly narrower nose and smaller eyes do not (IMO) reduce this to a “generic” representation of the character. I too hope these features are corrected in the final release but I’m not going to cancel my order if they are not.

Preordered using my credit at Sideshow, I really love the character design with the worn and shredded clothes with armor pauldrons. I thought the character performance was pretty good and intense as well.

For those who play Jedi Survivor and/or Battlefront 2, there are some cool mods out there with Shin’s character and outfit. Jedi Survivor even has a female voice mod for it to make it work.

I see two different people in that head, Glynis Barber (Brit actress, married to Michael Brandon) and Michelle Pfeiffer. I don't see the actress its supposed to be at all. From what I've seen of her next to Baylan, they do at least have better heights than the Black Series.

The more I look at the sculpt, the less I like it. Hot Toys needs to go back to the drawing board with this one and start from scratch. Arguably the worst likeness of the entire line.

It's not just the facial features that are off. Sculpt is also super soft and symmetricalized.

Not sure if it's the sculptors trademark to idealize and symmetricalize every sculpt, but I've seen a number of Hot Toys sculpts that look quite similar to this one. They all have that weird idealized look to them. What a bummer.
That was the best word i could think of too - "idealized". The actor has distinctive features that the sculpt disregards in the attempt to give the it a polished appearance. Her unique beauty isn't the typical fair, and the sculpt is just "pretty lady with low bangs and dark circles around her eyes".
But it was still a day one preorder for me as well. 🤷 I'll probably be shopping for a better sculpt to put some rooted hair on soon enough.

There's a sculpt on ebay that at least gets the eye size right (along with the intense expression), but it's still pretty rough and the hair is atrocious.

After they pretty much nailed the likeness on the rest of the figures from this line, I'm rather disappointed with this one. It's mainly the eyes that puts it off for me. Their just to small imo. Still a nice figure overall, though. Will definitly pre-order her and Baylan.View attachment 692375
The eyes also the wrong color. Ivanna's eyes aren't blue. They're green.

Hair sculpt looks bad, yeah. But this one actually captures her likeness pretty well, imo. Eyes, eyebrows, nose all look much better here. Also the area around the mouth appears more pronounced, wich is accurate. That area is very flat on the Hot Toys.

I do see Ivanna in this, which I can't say about the Hot Toys sculpt.

I decided to skip the entire Ahsoka line despite thinking all the figures are some of HT’s best recent work.
I simply will not care for any of these characters once the story moves on from them. Who am I kidding, the show never made me care about anyone to begin with.

However, I hope that this line has helped boost HT’s confidence and skill for making more female characters in the future.
