Im still waiting for my Bob the Goon figure
attachment.php

I think this was teased 6 years ago. :impatient:

There was a glorious time when we thought HT would give us many, many Jacks, including the above... and Gangster Boss... and Museum melty face...

It never happened. And that's why DiFabio left.

Considering the price, it's definitely one of the finer KO's made, IMO. Going to try to retailor the waistcoat/vest so that the top fold is thinner thereby making it look thicker and more in-line like what the HT one looks like.

Indeed. While placed together the HT is the finer example, but once you separate them I'm sure the differences will fade and he'll look quite respectable on display.

I see what you mean. There's quite a deep fold on Mars' waistcoat:

I was looking through the video for size differences between the two sets, since recasting normally results in smaller copies. I could see that with the mask, cane and possibly the long barrelled S&W. But when it came to the sculpts, which is the biggest concern with third party figures, it's not so easy to tell. Maybe because Mars has whiter paint. The neck looks shorter, but that could be due to collar futzing.

The eyes on the HT also appear darker, but in the light Nicholson's were lighter.

Is it my eyes or is the Mars version rounder in the face?

I'm super impressed by this I think padding will definitely help. Very very happy with how this turned out also great for those who didn't want to ruin their DX08 for museum version.

It does give that impression, but I think it's due to the whiter paint. Joao said that the HT had darker paint to accentuate the recesses.

Seeing the two together I don't know if the Mars is playing tricks on my eyes. I'd like to see it photographed with less light.

I'm halfway through a rewatch of the film, and forgot just how much it looked like Nicholson relished playing the role.

He was the closest in live action to Cesar Romero's lunatic antics, but not as disturbing.

Romero was 'circus clown' levels of disturbing.

So there's only one place to display the figure: with '66 Batman and Robin!

I was looking at this one. The face does look a little different to me. I am torn. I know the HT is pricey and we can't count on a re-issue. Is there a possibility QS will take this one on ? Maybe not so soon after the DK Joker.

It really does now that you mention it. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing for this.

Gotta say I'm really struggling to see much difference between the two in those pics, and at first glance I would just assume it was two copies of the same HT figure side by side.

There's some pluses to the Mars over the HT: the wider face, the lighter eyes, the more correct color teal of the vest, the sharper lapels on the overcoat and the deeper purple felt trim on the collar.

The only real downsides are the narrow waistcoat where the buttons are, and the oversized color on the orange shirt.

that is so sick. :horror :panic::rock:rock2:duffI know you fixed the hair , any pics of that budd? The eye paint is perfect.

Thanks. :rock This is Skiman's work from back in the day. He poofed the hair, repainted the eyebrows and gave him the eyeshadow missing from HTs figure. Over 10 years and its still my favorite figure.. I'll never get rid of him but if QS made an updated version I'd definitely buy it. While Nicholson isn't my favorite take on the character in the live action films its probably the most nostalgic and sentimental. Batman 89 is the first movie I saw in the theater. The following Halloween everyone I knew wanted to be Batman. They all had those crappy Batman costumes with the plastic mask and vinyl overall things - except me. I wanted to be the Joker. My mom took me to the local thrift stores and pieced me together a suit which she dyed and sewed as close to what was in the movie, then painted my face. I killed it that year for Halloween.

On both figures the green hair seems too dark. Think that's why I displayed my Hot Toys version with the hat 90% of the time. I don't regret selling it but couldn't resist pre-ordering a 2nd batch Mars Toys version given the price.

Are any of the third party companies likely to attempt the 89 Batman or are we stuck waiting for a HT reissue?
