After being inspired by Ton Ton's "R2 shiny dome" photos, I thought I'd look into Isopropyl Alcohol.
This stuff is the bomb!!!!
I can't believe how easily it works and the results are jaw-dropping. I first did R2, and was so happy I thought I'd try to get rid of 3PO's "head sweat" and some of the "chocolate milk." Again - perfect! (I still need to add some dirt weathering on R2 like Ton Ton's)
After that - I'd been looking at getting rid my SSC Sandtrooper deluxe and buying another HT; I have one with the rest of the HT figures and the SSC rides the dewback. After the success with R2 and 3PO, I thought I'd give the IA a dash, and it worked beautifully! Bonus it worked out, because the SSC has the white pauldron, the same as the iconic photo I tried to replicate below.
WIN, WIN!!!
One AWESOME tip I found (pardon the pun). The cotton buds (below) are for make-up removal and application, but having a hard, pointy end, I thought I'd buy them and give them a go. They are sooo good for hard to get to areas. But I still used a standard version as well for wider spread surfaces.
Hope this helps, and don't be afraid. Just take your time and it works a treat!!!
