Someone else uploaded the files you downloaded. Do you blame them for you downloading it?

You watched the videos. That violates copyright law.

Now...I disagree. But that's how it is. And that's where this whole Sopa crap came from. It would effectively ruin the internet forever. Because ultimately, everyone on this forum has violated copyright law.

Your Elvira sig, violates it. My Gravity Falls sig, violates it. It's a dumb law, that needs work.

It has good reason, and good intentions, but the line between actual right and wrong is blurred.

Who cares whats done is done. If you download it you download it. Theres worse crap to worry about than one stolen song or a movie watched on the internet. Happens all the time. Cant censor the internet.

I'm just thinking that watching something or listening to something is not as bad as completely stealing it by downloading it.
Besides, what If I borrowed a movie from a friend or a CD? everything you do is violating some law in some way.
I don't think seeing something online is as bad as wasting all that time and bandwidth that takes to download it.

Of course we are. :lol

I still don't like pirating movies. Too much work, too much time. Not really worth it. Except for Wolverine. That was worth it. Best thing I ever stole. :D

I am not downloading anything though, that should count for something. If anything the person that uploaded those files is the one violating the rights. If they took the songs down I would even understand. but there are hundreds or even thousands of cds and songs uploaded. search any artist.

You're fine doing that. If theres a claim to copyright, youtube handles it.

Is it stealing if you can't actually buy it?

For instance i went to buy the Jetsons S1 on DVD only to find it's not for sale in the UK.

Is it still stealing to download it? i mean i can't legally buy it.

Unless it's free, which it isn't, taking something without asking or paying is stealing. Something your parents should've taught you as a child. :monkey1

It's stealing, but it's what I call "**** YOU MOVIE COMPANY GO **** YOURSELF, I'M STEALING YOUR OVERPRICED, UNRELEASED, or BAREBONES CRAP MEDIA"

So I feel good about it. And I spit on that company.

It's only happened twice. One for Taken, which they only released the PG-13 version here, and I didn't want to see that. And for Friday the 13th remake, which they didn't offer the unrated cut for the DVD.

media pirates = cheapassed, thieving bastards. Period. :exactly:

Don't get me wrong I love buying my blu-rays and this recent Spider-man will be one of them. But in saying that I will only buy movies that
I love and are worthy of being in my collection.
A lot of movies these days are watch once and throw away, those are the ones I download and if it turns out to be a top movie I buy it. I also dl variouse tv shows. I have bought both seasons of
the walking dead on blu-ray coz' I love that show but I was also downloading those on a weekly basis in the past and I'm currently doing
that with season 3.
It's a dog eat dog world. Our governments are constantly screwing us,the cost of living is constantly on the rise and I refuse to pay rip off prices for cable that show nothing but advertising most of the time.
I pay good money for my internet conection, I can dl a 60min tv program in 10 to 15 mins or a 4gb hd movie with in a hour.
I get 200gb a month that is not FREE!! that I make damn well sure gets used!!:D

This guy's complaining about the government constantly screwing with the cost of living so he steals things. STEALING HURTS THE ECONOMY :slap

As for Nova's question, yes, it's still stealing even if they don't release it. Think about it in terms not involving the Internet. You see a painting at an art gallery you really like but it's not for sale. So you go to the artist's house, "borrow it," create a high resolution print copy, and keep one for yourself and then share it for anyone else who wants one for a low price. It makes that original piece pretty worthless, don't you think? And you're profiting off someone else's work! Even if you're not the guy sharing it, you're hurting that artist's artwork and encouraging theft/piracy to continue because these guys know there's a market for stolen goods.

Not complaining just stating the facts..If I have the oportunity to save
some cash I'll take it. I enjoy watching my programs ad free when ever
I like..:D And I never download to make profit from it.

:lecture:lecture:lecture:exactly:

Try to justify it any way you want, you're taking food out of the mouths of people who've earned it. That's not just the stars, producers, etc., it's also the hundreds of hardworking people behind the scenes who bust their asses just like the rest of us.

I agree with your post Nam and I'm not trying to justify it.
I simply can't afford to buy or rent every single movie I show an interest in. Only the ones I really enjoy..
