That'll happen for sure ink. There's no way we don't see those 2 in the near future. I'm really worried about seeing Deathstroke left behind. I don't know how long the DC license will last. He is such a cool character that is also very visually striking. If SSC doesn't make him in 1/4 scale, I fear we'll never see an awesome looking statue of Slade.

I don't know how sideshow does their licences, but I wonder if they make a character list & submit it, or do they pick characters at free will

I'm not sure how they do it either. I know Bowen has to submit a list of characters to marvel for approval. DC and SSC aren't marvel and Bowen but I would think the process would be similar. That's pure speculation on my part though.

The process is usually submit a list, some get approved. Put the list in order of release and mock up, get approved. Take the mock ups and get protos done, get approved.

We're too close to SDCC and Sideshow knows that DC has all eyes on it. They aren't announcing ____ until then, I have a feeling that we'll get a glutton of stuff due to this backlog of approvals though.

I am just EXTREMELY happy that we are getting GREAT pieces from Sideshow. Win, lose or draw its irrelevant since I have been pretty much doomed to DC Direct for years. I have always wished I could get someone of the cool pieces Marvel fans were getting with SS and Bowen. My wish has come true!!!

Hope we get to see a preview other the batman before the Joker gets released. I'll be happy if SSC can produce 3-5 PFs a year. This one a year PF is ridiculously too long.

+1 my words exactly! :hi5: I am also tired of seeing those same characters over and over again from DC Direct. Hopefully, we'll see lots of awesome DC pieces from SSC at SDCC :clap

Ugh. The Bowen stuff is completely generic and lifeless. DCD had some big misses (the Superman museum quality statue was horrible), but they've done some of the most creative and well done pieces ever, e.g. the Dynamics series, the Cover Girls busts and statues (which looked like AH! art, something SSC couldn't do) and the best superhero statue ever: Batman vs. Killer Croc.

That said, DCD (or whatever they call themselves these days) really screwed up and shot themselves in the feet (both of them) by firing Tim Bruckner.

So far the DC stuff we've seen from SSC is uninspired. The Batman bust has some big flaws and isn't as good as the 1:2 scale DCD Batman bust. The SSC Joker PF is better than the DCD Joker MQ, but not much better. The sketches we've seen for other DC stuff seems to be very generic, lot's of standing around and the PF sketch of Batman standing on yet another gargoyle is downright boring.

High quality craftsmanship doesn't make something art.

I wonder why DCD fired T.Bruckner. He is one of the most skillful sculptors in the business and DCD is not the same without him.

The SSC Batman PF is going to be epic whether he is on gargoyle or not. The SSC DC sketches are exciting with the Aquaman has a dynamic pose like the DC Dynamics series. The standing pose works out great if you're going to display all the Justice League PFs together. :yess:

I have to disagree. I love the Batman bust and I don't feel it has major flaws. The Joker PF to me is light years better than the DCD MQ. Again JMO.

I do agree with you somewhat on BD, the faces could have more definition. However I think they make very good statues and will continue to get the ones I like.

They fired Tim Bruckner and ended the Adam Hughes cover girls line because of money! You can already tell by there CG release of Raven's packaging that it's almost gone corporate. There entire thinking or business model is all wrong. I like Jim Lee as an artist but he is not a good fit to run DC.

Do you guys prefer a dynamics pose or a simple standing (museum pose perhaps?) on a detail base when it comes to 1/4 & 1/5 scale statues?

i'm desperately waiting for the full JLA lineup in PF form...but i'm particularly looking forward to seeing the Aquaman PF

add the gold, green and blue and this puppy is going to rock !!

I think dynamic is good if it's within the bounds of that Aquaman design. I don't want Bowen static, but I do want some parameters of consistency among poses.

They ended the AH line to make room for Jim Lee.. I like Lee's Superman and Batman from the old DCU. Tim Bruckner left DCD is a good choice because his works are always bounded by the art directions @ DCD. We will expect to see more of those action figure sized Ami Comi female statue line from DCD...

I would agree with that if there was to be a series that went together, something along the lines of producing a set of seven statues that made up a Premium Format version of Alex Ross' "Original Seven" work:

Something like that would work. But just a bunch of generic posed statues wouldn't be anything new and a failure artistically.
