You'll need a medium format resin (not FDM) printer like an Elegoo Saturn or similar. I printed it all on one plate @ 260% of this model. That brings it close to 1/6 of NASA's dimensions.

I will be adding more detail to this person's model - like bolts etc and new brackets, and will post the model files here when I get the chance.

Thank you so much! I truly appreciate all the work that you are sharing.

Pictures don't do it justice. It's incredible in hand and so many details on his suit.

Make sure to buy 303, if you haven't got it. This figure will definitely need it.
I think this has to be one of the greatest figures I own.

This is FANTASTIC to hear! I'm so excited.

But what is 303... glue?

Protectant.

There's a lot of vinyl on this figure. It will crack unless it's treated regularly.

Every shelf with this figure on is gonna POP.

They've done very well considering the complexity. A few things are off - mainly with the scaling, especially with the straps and buckles. The biggest error is the middle buckle attached to his chest-piece, which it isn't. Logos and connectors aren't scaled correctly either.

I wonder who in the community would be good at making some of the straps more accurate?

Overall though, I think it's great the way it is straight out of the box. Apart from the helmet :lol

Mine has officially been in possession of the post office for longer than it took to ship from China to the US and clear customs 😫 and it's only about 3 hours away from me.

Love the posts so far on how he turned out! Eagerly awaiting....

Really thought yours would be first on here. Post guys are playing The Martian in their warehouse.

Very happy with mine. I just need to figure out a way to get the lights on the side of the helmet, to actually work.

This one of those figures that I love, despite the imperfections. Really wasn’t expecting it to be so good. Thought the suit would be printed, when it’s actually mixed media with raised beading and details. Incredible work.

Curious how the helmet fits/sits on the head. Is there no room above?

The only room for the helmet is in the bin/trash.

There’s foam pads front and back to protect the sculpt, and the whole helmet is scaled wrong. I had trouble getting it to sit right and gave up. The clear plastic comes off, so I’m looking at what I can do about it. Mine also has a pour mark on the front. I guess most others will too. Gonna check my second one when it arrives.

Would you be able to make a new clear dome? You have crazy skills. I’ve located a good 3D model of the helmet, and will buy it.

There's a magnet in the helmet and his head:

This is with both magnets touching:

That is sad to hear about the helmet, considering that the rest was quite impressive.
I assume most people will be happy with the way it is. I'm going overboard with this figure because I'm a big fan and want to see if I can get some things looking closer. You're gonna love it.

My helmet doesn't have that circular foam piece around the post. Maybe that's causing your fit problems? The helmet on mine stays in place perfectly well.

Do you mean the foam I've lifted away from the back? With the wires? I was just looking at it and put it back in place.

Or around the magnet? I think you need both.

I thought for sure with them getting it Friday I would have it Monday or Tuesday at the latest.
I know it's frustrating and no consolation, but it's 100% worth the wait. Savour opening that box.

Back onto the helmet, for those that care. This is why It bothered me back in March:

Even allowing for lens distortion and camera angles, it's pretty bad.

This is a cheaper replica made by FBFX - so will be same moulds etc.

Anyway, I was hoping to use it for parts, but this needs a scratch build. No idea how to do the clear dome though. Clear resin is crud.

Mine only has the foam strip on the back. Try removing the circular piece and see if it sits better.
Oh, wow. The foam piece is to protect the top of the sculpt, so I'll leave it. Besides. it can only go as far as the magnet - mine clicks onto the magnet, so i don't think removing it would make a difference. The overall shape of the helmet is wrong.

Have you got the foam strip at the front to protect from nose rubs?

EDIT - it seems to be superglued in. Can't remove without tearing it.

How exciting!

So is the build and paint quality fairly good then? Does he come with the line of rope seen in the previous pics or is that an add on? Whatever the case, its a nice detail.

Have fun!

I just thought, "Hold on a minute. Where's the helmet lights?"

Looked in the bottom of the box.

ROPE!!!!

The lights are held on with magnets, the EVA backpack, the sculpt, plus that clear faceplate/dome.

They do love their magnets. Done an excellent job with them.
