Got my pilot from Sideshow today! I’m pretty surprised at how quick he came.

I’m definitely more attracted to the phase 2 bucket so that’s what I’ll use BUT I’ll see if I can get my hands on a second one for a P1 look if I can!
Is the body like the 501st with ratchet joints or like coruscant guard??

Damn, so they downgraded the sculpt from the proto (which to be fair looked clearly hand sculpted/ prototypey) and just used the inaccurate one they used for the standard clone and the 501st?

That was the one detail I was excited for with this figure.

EDIT:

Oh I see I wasn't the only one who gave a **** hahahah.

it is the animated design of the phase2 helm but with realistic weathering. the proportions are very much exaggerated like animation
Can’t find or see any issues with what HT made. It looks accurate. Like a real human head could fit into helmet. Proportions are similar to tie pilot helmets. A cool helmet! Don’t like the CW animations, but this thing fits in well as something in-between the republic and empire.

Agreed. We never saw a live action version of this helmet so HT taking creative liberties is perfectly fine. And having the helmet in hand I can clearly see realistic elements to it (like the backside of the helmet)

The visor on the figure is not sharp like it is here. I'll try to do some comparisons later.

Edit: I found some concept art for Hawk that shows the backside of his helmet and I can already confirm that its NOT a 1:1 to the Hot Toys helmet. It is inspired by the animated design but has more realistic elements such as the detail vent on the backside and the more curved visor. (But please tell me how Im wrong cause you love doing that ;))

sure, slightly less jagged but still retains the large ear pads and sudden transition to mouthpiece that feel very animated. I think HT seems to always go halway with their takes, like Rex helmet visor not looking how it should in realistic style or Obiwans Jedi Armour being animated style but with realistic headsculpt, they cannot seem to commit to full realistic style. Always a sort of hybrid style

please do share the concept are that isn't seen in the show :)
but, I will happily admit the HT helmet has slight differences (but still overall animated proportions) if you can admit all the times you were wrong :)

If you want to help me out with this and find an official screenshot from the show that shows off the backside of the helmet that would be appreciated. All I can find is concept art: https://www.starwars.com/series/clone-wars/carnage-of-krell-concept-art-gallery
As for the blaster thing, I wont admit I'm wrong because I don't believe I am wrong. I know what the animated blasters look like and the figures do NOT have those blasters. Maybe your version of the realistic differs from mine but I am going off the version we've gotten for the past decade and the version thats APPROVED for realistic 501st use.

I was the one saying that Kenobi had animated armor but everyone was attacking me for "complaining about toys" and I had to reach out to a YouTuber to bring it up in a discussion on their podcasts.

so you do see the problem that HT seems to always go halfway with converting the animated designs to realistic. (also, that obi armour has slight differences like the P2 pilot helmet, so now does it suddenly become relistic? no, it is animated design with tweaks like the P2 pilot helm. Because HT go hybrid style)

Also, I never said the figures have animated blasters, stop the strawman then we can move foreward on what we agree on. the blasters HT include are not the movie ones seen in the films, do you at least see that?

Lets just agree we both care for accuracy and call it a day. I dont see a problem with the HT blasters. They are fine by me. They arent animated and it looks like me life size blasters that I own.

With that being said. I passed on CW Kenobi because of the animated armor and I dont feel like parting out a clone to get arms. Also also I imagine that helmet will face the same issue with the frown.

if HT give it the thick lines too that will suck. I love the proto
Could always 3D print clone arms. Skylu3d did a good set of clone armour files. Kenobi's helmet might be trickier to source if HT mess it up
