At the low end extremes Andor and counterpart Syril Karn both directionless, swallowed up by an inhuman totalitarian system, both ending up in their personal "prisons", (yet fated to meet again).
At the other end of the social strata, Mothma and Deedra Meero by contrast, strategically and methodically carve out their goals, in the same system, end consequentially putts targets on both their backs for doing so, to very different ends.
These are the character driven, Dickensian chapter endings Gilroy hinted at.

On the other hand, Andor just randomly arrested while just picking up munchies (did you catch that list) for some fine hook-up he just met, has got to be the absolute most authentic and endearing character low, you will ever see in the SW U. :lol

Prior to this, if you had told me I'd be thinking about a D+ Star Wars series, loving every minute of it and eagerly awaiting the next episode every week, I'd have slapped a nerd.

I still don't know how this got made. It's as if someone with my entertainment sensibilities infiltrated Disney in 2018, slowly gathering resources and weaving an intricate web of misdirection and subterfuge, building a clandestine network ... until they were finally activated ... when it was far too late to stop it. :panic:
Hail Hydra?

Like Palpatine and his Final Order, they secretly siphoned off the production values from the other shows!

So any guesses who the uncle is?
You know, at first, I thought mention of his uncle was just to move the plot forward, but you are right. I'm starting to think his uncle is a much more powerful person than we think, we might be surprised when we find out.

What is to become of Syril? He's clearly going to play a bigger role in this series, does he become an Imperial or do an about face and join the rebellion?

I know it's not like it, but this series reminds me a lot of Caprica (at least the first season). A more cerebral take on an already existing universe, adding a great amount of depth to the background of a story we already know. Sure, there aren't any lightsabers and explosions or space battles every week but are we getting great story telling. I hope we don't see a lightsaber at all in this series. My goodness, the Mon Mothma exchange with her senator friend was fantastic! Once all episodes are out and you can binge watch it all at once, I think the naysayers will change their tune. This is great Star Wars and opening up a whole new door for great stories!

uncle Tarkin?

I did think she said the name as well. And it was something like that honestly.

EDIT: a quick google search confirms it IS Harlo.
I'm almost positive that's what she had said. It could still be Tarkin or Krennic? I still think it'll be a big reveal.

On a side note, I've honestly lost all track of the timelines off all these shows. How many years after ROTS does Andor take place?

Could be an ISB guy ... what's the boss's name in the bureau? Even if we've heard it 'Harlo' could be a first name or something familiar.

After seeing it finally hit the media in the worst possible way (reporting how appallingly low the ratings are), I hope they don't cancel season 2 as it hasn't started filming yet.

If I was to have a theory on the low rating - it's about a character that is insignificant in the general populous consciousness. It's all good and well for SW nerds to know who it is, but if you walked up to anyone on the street and said "Obi Wan Kenobi" they'd know who it is. "Cassian Andor"... I highly doubt it.

The Mandalorian was lucky to have "Baby Yoda" splashed everywhere after that first episode.
