Will the beard fluff out like the one in the initial photos.? that's the only thing I can Criticise.
Doesn't matter too much if it's more fluffy or not. Can just wet your finger tips and run it through the hair. It'll style it more to your liking right away.

Just look at how Asmus's Gandalf came out of the box. :lol

I mean back in the day, that figure was pretty cool, to me at least. I quite enjoyed it minus the fact that there was almost no neck articulation. There were some really fantastic repaints.

There's a phase to the moaning? if so the period is pret-ty short.

Its all in the technique... :monkey3

But seriously, as previously mentioned, I can see doubling up on the GtGs, having the Asmus one and the InArt one.

Have the InArt on, without the hat, in the "You shall not pass!" pose. Then have the Asmus one with the new hat (or the InArt hat, if better) with the Fellowship crew.

How old is that SS Gandalf? It’s amazing how much we’ve moved on. Makes you wonder where we’ll be in 10-15 years time, we’ll probably be laughing at these $500 hyper-realistic figures.

As for the Asmus, honestly it’s not bad at all imo. The rooted hair looks really nice to me, although I’ve never seen it in hand. Those eyes and moustache really let it down though.

I see you didn't mention the Sideshow Gandalf.

To be honest, I still have the Sideshow Gandalf but just not displayed with my Asmus figures. It is in a Detolf with the other Sideshow LOTR figures. I think everything except for the head sculpt has aged quite well. The outfit, gear, sword, etc. are fairly comparable to today's releases. You just can't compare the head sculpt to the faux haired and bearded figures from Asmus and InArt.

By the way, I had to look it up. The SS figure is from 2008!

Wasn't Gandalf the first SS figure to break the $100 price point?

I think it was. It was top notch when it came out. My eternal optimism was crushed back then by the slow death of 1/6 LOTR. It seemed like it took forever for Sideshow to come out and say the line was dead. Never thought we would get another shot at it let alone finally have a complete fellowship or multiple companies take the license.

Sideshow’s 1/6 Aragorn is what got me into this hobby.
