Well at first I guess I pictured Cap bragging about it to the other Avengers

But I could see someone like Bruce asking if he had been with a woman before.

I still say his heart and mind belonged to Peggie and he would have waited.
That's not how people work. I've had a fair few casual flings whilst still having my heart set on someone else.

Single people gonna do what single people do.

I thought it was light and fun. But I tend to like everything to varying degrees and try not to be too critical.
But in the end, this is why we (as actual fans) get crap... :poop: If people are accepting of everything they get, then things just get worse and worse with little to no effort put into the writing & storytelling... These companies will just adopt a "Why spend money or go that extra effort if the audience will be on board no matter what?".

The worst is the mantra, "something is better than nothing". "If you don't support what they make, they'll stop making". At this point, that sounds pretty good to me. I'd rather have enticing content than drivel.

I'm guessing that the writers went out of their way to try and knock Cap's morality/convictions down a peg (no pun intended) in order to preemptively shield (no pun intended) their new female character from slut shaming once she starts sleeping around later in the show.

A BS retcon that is easily ignored.

I'm just a positive person, man. There's a lot to be upset about in this life, I like a lot of media and get excited about it. Some of it delivers, some of it doesn't. There's nothing I can do about it in the grand scheme.

If you're constantly looking for things to be upset about, you'll find it. A majority of popular entertainment is deeply flawed. So I enjoy some things more than others and move on. But that's just me.

"Don't get too attached to things. Learn to let go" - Ivan Vanko.

The guy was an arsehole though so...

That's reaching IMO....

Back when me and my wife (who was still my girlfriend then) got out of the theater after watching Captain America there was some banter between us about Rogers apparent failure to get laid.

There was also talk here and in my other circles about him shagging the neice of his first "girlfriend" while she lays in some hospice. 🤣

I think the whole Cap banter was just that, banter.

Haven't read through all the replies in depth, because too much nitpicking and toxicity tends to ruin a show for me. But I saw a few people talking about this show being targeted for younger kids and the Captain America stuff not vibing with that. (Even though the trailer showing her hooking up with a guy)

I'm pretty sure this show is targeted at women and independence/empowerment. Just from a couple of lines that really stuck out to me, especially the one monologue from her about having to be in control of her emotions... Feels that way to me.

Much in the same way that Ms Marvel was a lot more targeted at a younger crowd and her cultural background, I think Marvel is aiming these Disney+ shows a little more than broad strokes like they used to.

Anyway, that being said, I really liked the first episode. I thought it was light and fun. But I tend to like everything to varying degrees and try not to be too critical.

The best way to approach things! :hi5:

I thought it said more about Jen and Bruce than Cap tbh.

I enjoyed the first episode. Was a good introduction to the character and pretty faithful to the style and characterisation of the comics (a slight change in her origin but nothing outrageous). Any "message" was done naturally and as a cohesive, tactile part of the story.

Looking forward to next week.

Now that would be out of character for Cap, IMO. :lecture

Omg! It’s the reverse version otomofan. Light vs dark!

Why is there so much talk about captain America having sex on the internet. Why should we care lol. I feel like most people don’t want these characters to have sex cause the same thing happened in that crap halo show when he had sex.

People just can’t fathom thinking about there childhood heroes getting laid 😂
