delusional and generally whackadoo ideas are EVERYWHERE nowadays. People are crazy. They are seriously, seriously nuts and one of the main ways you can tell is this current idea that just thinking/saying something translates an idea into reality.

But the next figure is going to be Padme, they’re going to reissue Iron Man Mk 46 and then every figure ever made after that, Shazam from the first movie is still on the way, and Han is never going to get another figure because of a talk show.

And this is going to be released for $1500. Totally.

Maybe Hot Toys can join with Lego and make a 1/6 TIE Fighter, Falcon, JSF and everything else.

The Blitzway Ectos are about four feet long, 90 lbs, and are pretty much one piece aside from the top rack stuff.

This N-1 does look like you could engineer it to have multiple assembly points to condense shipping size. I’d also guess it doesn’t weigh anywhere near what the Ecto does.

At first glance I also thought there was no way they’d release it… but on further consideration I think if they were really determined to, a clever designer could make it work.

The Afterlife Ecto went up for pre-orders not that long ago and is a sub-2k offering. Joost is making a 1500 (now 1700 I believe) snowspeeder.

I also bet a project like that would make Disney really happy.

I think if Howard is getting sick of being shown up by third parties and constantly told his company is just coasting on Iron Mans and Spider-man’s, I think he could actually do this and keep it under 2k USD. I won’t believe it until I see it though.

That looks nice, but if I'm to buy a 1/6 Star Wars vehicle from HT, I'd definitely want that Tie Interceptor. No room for it, but I'd still buy it.

At first glance I also thought there was no way they’d release it… but on further consideration I think if they were really determined to, a clever designer could make it work.

It's not that it's not feasible. It technically is, and I think it's less complicated than the Hulkbuster. It could also be packaged and shipped to be smaller than the 1989 Batmobile so logistically it's possible.

It's more that they don't really have a reason to really release it. Very large 1:6 vehicles are niche. Hot Toys is very cautious. There's little motivation beyond pride to put the risk and effort into something like this when they can just sell more figures and Cosbabies.

I don't think he cares, at least not in that way. Third parties are too unreliable to really "show them up" in any significant way aside from splashy promo photos. And they'd be seen as fly by night unlicensed nuisances more than legitimate competition.

They do feel a bit of heat from QS/IA and have responded accordingly to some degree. But their licenses are very limited and it's going to take a lot more than all of that to unseat the Hot Toys empire as a business.

Why would he care if people tell him they just rehash Iron Man and Spider-Man figures? It's made them a ton of money. You take what you can get in business. Having weird pride is a business risk and he knows that.

Plus two other power/gonk droids (they also showed protos of Lars homestead gonk and Mos Eisley streets gonk, but only made sandcrawler gonk) and the second leather-vest Jawa.

They could easily take away any financial risk plus see what the real interest is by using the Haslab minimum backer model.

If they get enough backers it gets made, if not everyone gets their money back and it doesn't get made.

I don’t see it happening though. That would be a PR minefield and I think Howard would care about those optics.

I’ve backed a ton of campaigns and it’s very embarrassing if something doesn’t get funded. Hasbro will never hear the end of the BS Rancor. And often established companies get reamed a bit for “having to resort to crowdfunding“ at all (not my words).

And they’d still have to make the damn thing which would take resources away from Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Cosbabies.

My guess is that Cosbabies/vinyl figures sell insane numbers in asian markets.
They wouldn't keep making them if they weren't incredibly profitable.

Fair enough. Although you could argue Hot Toys gets enough social media hate from the stuff they do and don't make.

But I get your point. The N1 is not one I'd start with. Backers would probably be low when it comes to real commitment.
