The fact that HT doesn't have the red on the fin for the Phase I or the blue on the Phase II helmets makes me really scratch my head.View attachment 575730View attachment 575731

I can sort of give them a pass on the Phase 1 fin light because the bit of red paint they would probably throw on is a poor substitute for an LED. The painted red on the Sideshow version makes me think of lipstick on Sy Snootles. At least it’s in the back, though it should at least be black to imply an unlit light.

But the missing tube stripes on the Phase 2 helmet is really bad. It’s a glaring omission when they remembered it for the 501st, 332nd, CG, Rex, and Cody. And they added a detail by sculpting the lines onto the chest armor so it’s one step forward and one step back.

It’s like they told an intern to remove all the colors from the helmet and they also removed the stripes. Hopefully it’ll be addressed for the production figure.

I'm fairly certain those 2 lines are just a decal.

I was not 100% either way as they looked sculpted in some of the promo pictures but indeed look like a decal on the prototypes on display.

It would be cheaper to add that detail as a decal so I shouldn't be surprised, but it does seem a bit tacky to just have that stuck on.

We trade one detail for another.

why does no one seem to notice that the HT Attack of the Clones movie figure uses Clone Wars animated series based blasters. It should be using the movie design

I can be very nitpicky and particular; I can't mix E-11s between eras on my figures. But I would not expect most to really care or notice the relatively minor differences in blasters, especially with this figure. I would definitely not expect Hot Toys to spend resources on making changes people won't care about.

Most everyone is just happy to get a plain Clone Trooper and that's really all that matters.

If you want to get into it, Hot Toys has neither tried to unify or fully separate their live action and animated Clones. I find it better to just move on instead of stopping to pick apart their semi-weird split approach (like the chest armor hash marks, my #1 issue I try not to think about).

At the end of the day, they're really nice toys but they're not replicas.

Is there a comparison available?

Still think the phase 1 helmet is too big...
and mouth lines too thick. and no red light on rear.

Today I received a Sideshow deluxe 501st trooper and comparing the phase 1 helmet on that to the HT 501st phase 1 helmet it is night and day. Sideshow did so much better with their phase1 helmet it is just silly seeing them side by side

Oof. You don’t want to hear “Sideshow did it better”.

exactly. C'mon HT, you are better than this! in fact, HT's botched phase 1 helmet was the first thing to nudge me to buy the Sideshow one. I wanted a 501st phase 1 but since HT dropped the ball so Sideshow was the only game in town.

I just put down my pre-order for this figure. I’m not that knowledgeable about whether this figure is screen accurate but I’m happy HT is finally making a shiny clone trooper that just looks good in general. Not sure what everyone else thinks but I lost interest in HT figures years ago on account of it being endless Marvel releases and the quality not always being the best. The interesting licenses (Terminator, Alien, etc) just disappeared so it’s nice to see this one. The prequels may have their flaws but I do like the visuals of the clone army and various other elements in those movies.

I like how HT’s repetitiveness with Marvel drove you away and now their repetitiveness with clones has brought you back.

Clones are a great looking bunch though. If I had more space I’d be more committed to them.
Right now I’m basically thinking I’ll get one of every colour scheme if my budget allows for it but they’ll be amongst the first figures to go when I’m truly out of room.
