Yeah, it's a lifelike head sculpt, but something about the eyes - and eyebrows, is throwing the likeness off.

Whipped up a quick comparisson. It's definitely better than the Asmus production piece imo, but I still think the Asmus prototype takes the cake.

Asmus prototype is the production piece with futzing some hair, eyes pushed closer and proper lighting. Asmus sculpt looks better currently.

I feel the same. Likeness is somehow off. Most likely the eyes and area above the eyes. Other than the failed PERS my Crown Gandalf sculpt is looking better than this so far. I actually see Ian when I look at it.

InArt asks for feedback on FB when they post things so maybe they’ll actually listen to some constructive criticism.

Quite frankly, the more I look at this, the more it reminds me of Robert De Niro instead.

Meh. It's got the features of Gandalf but they're just off enough that it doesn't strike me as a $500+ replacement for the Asmus one.
It's like a cosplayer Gandalf. At 250 I might bite...but I've got no real issue with ASMUS' body/costume/weapons so I'll pass if this is ~500.

This is still their prototype isn’t it? Let’s wait and see their production piece before we get too excited.

Well, yes, tho production might fall off....Wonder if the price will be exciting, too.

Based on the joker price for rooted hair, I see this being priced at $599. Which will put a preorder deposit at $60 unless the dealers decide to up the deposit. (which is fair because they will assume all the risk of overstock) Just like the joker I may put down the deposit and hope that the final product comes close. If not, I am only stuck with a $60 loss.
This prototype is far from a perfect headsculpt, but rooting doesn't get much better.

Seriously?

I see some flaws in the likeness of the Queen photo -- namely the strange and remarkable likeness to DeNiro -- but the level of reality that Queen has achieved is well beyond Asmus' proto or production.

More pictures are surely needed here to know better...

Listen, you Orcs, you screwheads. Here is a wizard who would not take it anymore. A wizard who stood up against the scum, the Uruk Hai, the Balrogs, the filth, the ****. Here is a wizard who stood up.

Likeness issues aside, it's kind of blowing my mind how life-like this sculpt looks.
That's a 2 inch sculpt that you're looking right there. :medic Could pass for a 1/1 bust or a wax statue. Figures have come a looooonngg way, production stuff aside.

Looks great to me. I just don't think it looks "worth 500 or 600 of my dollars" great. I'm still beyond happy with my Asmus' Crown version. So unless IA wows me with a low price - which I don't see happening - I won't feel like I'm missing out on anything here. Happy for all who get and like it, though!

I'll say again, a little healthy competition in the marketplace is good for everybody. Should spur both companies to up their game and I'm all for that!
