Regarding deluxe/fully loaded versions of characters.. eh.

I guess I’ll be curious to see if the price difference is substantial or just a bit more. Also it’ll depend on the character (assuming this is done for more than just Sisko) as well as what accessories are included versus what the basic edition offers.

Personally deluxe editions kind of irritate me a lot of times. Like when Hot Toys will do a basic figure and then a deluxe with more accessories that are desirable but come at a greater cost.

Certain times I can see deluxe sets being justified. Like when figures come with a large item (Palpatine’s throne or Darth Maul’s Sith Speeder for instance). I’m not so much a fan when it’s extra accessories that should be included but are packaged in a deluxe set to squeeze more money out of fans.

I'm fine with the idea, as there are a lot of collectors resistant to paying more than the usual $190 for these Trek figures, and it'll be nice to still give them that option.

Like I say it all depends on how much more the figures will be and what extra items will be included. Also which characters these deluxe editions will apply to.

I’m not against the idea but I hope it doesn’t become commonplace and is only for certain characters.

What are we talking about here with fully loaded vs basic?

Basic Sisko with open uniform top (zippers and velcro or snaps), extra hands, phaser rifle, hand phaser, tricorder, baseball?

"Fully Loaded" Sisko with open uniform top, alternate fully closed uniform top, even more extra hands, phaser rifle, hand phaser, tricorder, baseball, orb of the prophets, glass of vodka from "In the Pale Moonlight," and maybe a Willie Mays baseball card and a Niners cap?

I'd like some extra options and accessories, but to be honest, as long as I can display Ben like he is in either of these photos from "Rocks and Shoals" I'm good.

Agreed, each actor seemed to get their own little piece of the spotlight which is odd as Shatner is always regarded as being self centred but his story gave a little something for everyone.

I don’t know Dukat was a pretty lousy father at times too… then again his comparison was Sisko.
Dukat was drunk looking at his own mirror, a true villain for all including his daughter.

I still don't know how to make a Cardassian, silicone head piece like the real thing?

I have the Hasbro Hyperreal Luke Skywalker and it’s neat how his entire outfit, with all the details and fabric folds are molded in silicon.

It‘s surprising how good it looks in different poses, because nothing deforms too much in a strange way. The figure itself has lots of issues, but there’s such great potential there for future silicon figures.

I also love my TBLeague figures and their silicon quality is much better than other figures I’ve seen. But they haven’t done any specialty silicon molded parts yet since they’re just trying to move more bodies.

Are you imagining the whole head and neck as a single piece to be molded in silicon? That would be very cool if you could make that work and have the neck turn and stretch with the head.

Honestly I would also be pretty satisfied with a plastic collar and separate plastic head for easy posing. I remember the Cardassians on screen generally had limited head motion and their collars didn’t move much.

HT used skimming strategy, I am using affordability.

I couldnt afford mego when I was a kid. I am trying to minimize this. I base our MSRP on cost, and not on industry standard.

I would think you could just treat it like a separate neck joint that has a bit of extra shoulder sculpted onto it.
There is this thing in PVC production, the more material use used, the more deformation it will have.

That shape might have problem pullinh out from the steel molds.

Funny, I always thought I was the only one who loved that film. Great characterizations for the cast, and a true ensemble film instead of just focusing on the big three.

Sure, there are cringe moments, like Scotty’s head bump and (by current standards, despite the fact that Nicols LOVED it) the fan dance. And plot failures - how did the Kingons get through the barrier? But overall, man, it’s the most thoughtful of the films. What would you say to God? And would you stand up to him/her if they aren’t what you thought they were? As a former Christian who has read the Bible cover to cover both from a religious view and a cynical view, it fascinates me.
As a former atheist it is interesting to me too. But the not-God as depicted in the film would be so underwhelming I would feel nothing but disappointment. Of course even a non-omnipotent god could probably snuff me so I would not stand up to it due to wanting to survive.
If I were to actually confront omnipotent God I suspect would be so overcome with awe I physically and psychologically wouldn't be able to do or say anything until God toned His Glory down somehow.

Sisko turned out to be exactly what I wanted. As I mentioned before, Sisko was intended to be released right after Janeway. Because I thought the original concept of the Sisko figure lacked character, I pull Sisko off from our scheduling and redevelop him using our newly developed body. He turned out to be the MOST BAD ASS character I developed to date.

I happy with Sisko.

Sisko will come with 2 versions. A basic and a full accessories. The basic will be the one I previously developed. The full version will be what I have added in the past year.

Working paperwork. Once is done, he will be up for pre-order.

what do you think of 2 price levels. I have this approach in mind for a long time. Time to test my hypothesis.

Excellent idea of two versions..

I do not like the idea of 'exclusivity' with your figures Nanjin. They are exclusive enough. This sounds like price creep talk. If production costs go up--raise the prices within reason--this is justifiable. Creating multiple packaging will cost more for production will it not? Why go there--keep the prices well under the overpriced Hot Toys and laughable prices of Side Show offerings--and you will gain more traction amongst the collectors--especially Star Trek collectors.

What you could do is offer 'expansion packs' for your offerings. This would be popular and welcomed.

Exclusive is not the right word to describe 2 different price levels.

I am not a producer who just hold a license. I am also a small scale manufacturer that depends on Volume. Multiple pricing fitting to the spending power of Trek customers as a whole will benefit volume.

All price levels are based on their own production cost fitting to the law of supply and demand.

Example: basic Sisko only has standard uniform and basic hands and basic accessories hands totalling to only 6 hands. On the other hand, the “full version” has everything the basic version has and 5 more hands, 5 more hard accessories, 2 more soft accessories, and some more.

In regards to Exclusive release, we might have exclusive releases which we partner with other Trek license holders.

Not sure I follow your reasoning. Deluxe and Standard editions of a figure can use most of the same packaging. Expansion packs would actually require an entirely new package design, not to mention that folks who might have bought the standard edition will buy any left over stock of the deluxe if it's all that is left. Nobody is going to buy any unsold expansion packs, once the figures sell out.

We have no choice in packaging design, all are Trek standard. We have no choice but also standardized our packaging (check our previous release sizing). Paper cost only.

I don't mind selling 10k basic and 100 full accessories, instead of just 100. If collector can afford the full accessories, they will buy. If they can't afford the full accessories, they will consider the less expensive version.

We offer choice. I am sure those who can afford the full accessories and buy the real basic version will end up buying from eBay. I have no doubt about this.

By the way, I don't call it deluxe and Standard. I call them Standard and Basic. You and I position them differently.

Personally I wish the more "barebones" Sisko was him in the original DS9 uniform. As I still think it would be really cool to have both looks in the collection, since they both featured in so many iconic episodes.

Now if I do this, then there really has a problem. War time uniform competes with service era uniform Sisko and the rest of the entire war time uniform release. This is direct Trek vs Trek within its own series. The worst kind.

We can only do either or. Future possibilities depend on market demand.

I guess flucuating prices would be ok instead of a deluxe and standard. I'd rather not miss out on accessories. Most companies dont price all figures the same any way. some are 20 to 50 dollars difference. I would prefer that than multiple editions. Say Spock came with standard gear and his lute. Cool $200
Kirk comes with standard gear, 2 shirts and a tribble and some random alien chick's phone number $230 Not bad.

I preclude to include exclusive examples of excellent Exo-6 extreme Trek examples of exactness -- at exemplary prices -- excitedly and exaltedly, for an extended period of exact time, exclusively.
