Spidey has departed Cincinatti. I don't think he'll make it to the local delivery hub in time, so Monday the 28th looks like the day. I remain nerdy and hyped. :lecture

EDIT: Made it to the delivery facility on time and on a truck as I type.

Spidey just arrived. Waiting for the figure to get up to room temperature before I attempt to pose it. Feels like some very minor differences in padding to Advanced version ... the neck is thicker, Adam's Apple less defined ... so far I can feel that minor bunching in any area is easily smoothed out, we'll see what happens when I actually start posing it.

Very happy with it. Straight outta the box, only the eyes swapped for the medium-squint:

I can't remember the last 1/6th figure I bought ... maybe diecast Mark VII? Anyway, feels nostalgic to be posting bad iPhone photos like the good ol' days!

I look at it and .. yep. That's a proper superhero.

Articulating this won't be a problem, within reason. I see lots of potential outside of just museum poses.

My favourite eyes are the maximum squint, strangely enough -- here is one medium, one maximum.

Hands are refreshingly easy to swap out, you're not afraid of breaking the pegs like on some figures.

I've owned ASM2, HC and Advanced prior to this. This is my favourite Spidey figure so far, I just wish it had way more accessories.

So about the suit: it's most hindered in the forward motion of the legs, which is a pity because you can't get the crazy crouches and flailing web-swinging legs with high fidelity, but this was not the least bit unexpected.

The material rebounds just like the Advanced, obviously will take longer if left in place. Be particularly careful at the back of the knees. You need to move the material out of the way of the joint, hips, knees, whatever. It also helps to pivot the closest joint or joints in the opposite direction to pull material away from where you bend.

The neck creasing is a real thing. In some positions it actually heightens realism by looking like crazy superhero tendons, others not so much. It's something you need to deal with by smoothing, moving, flexing.

Can you make this figure expressive? 100%. Can you make it do whatever a spider can? Nope. Make peace with it.

I didn't spend a ton of time, just testing and playing a bit to see. Joints are pretty tight but outside of a vanilla running pose those ankles won't hold him on one foot in a lot of positions (not that it's necessary) as the figure is heavy-ish.

Happy with this for now. Spidey in flight. The suit will crease deeply -- experience with the Advanced tells me it could rebound even after months with time and very gentle heat, but this is the posing copy anyway so I care not.

I declare this the current best 1/6th Spidey. Had they done it in a less restrictive and more stretchy material it'd be perfect. As it is ... close enough.

*ahem*

I'd like to see a posing comparison to the black suit Tobey figure. The way this suit looks in poses is just unacceptable to me. The material doesn't fold in a realistic way and doesn't look like a "classic suit" of fabric to me.

It's the padding as much as the suit. In a couple of my photos above the shoulder bunches unnaturally when you bring it across the chest ... that's the padding blocking it and moving in the wrong direction.

I don't have black suit but my issue with HC (much as I love those iterations for what they are) was the narrow head and young kid proportions. It's a good looking suit though and I think you're right about the material being thinner and more appropriate.

Nice pics ZE_501 :clap

Yes it does bend and crease but I like how it can reform ..so what I experiment now is pose then put back in standing form. The material adapts much better than any previous rubber material figures I got from HT IMO

I’m sorry the nostalgic factor I get when I pose him..It’s hard not to photograph him. I can’t help it:lol

Thanks!

So that's actually something I noticed this morning. The material seems somehow more pliable and resilient than the Advanced -- I originally thought it was precisely the same material but now I'm not so sure.

Keep 'em coming!

So you recommend this over the HC? Worried I am double dipping at this point with limited space.

Your choice of course..I will always prefer the classic comic style because it‘s what I grew up on . But the Holland spideys are solid figures to collect as well.

But if you love the MCU films.. then the HC and FFH versions are fun collectibles

The Holland Spideys look sharp, and while they also have their limitations, the suit material is thinner which makes for easier posing but far from the kind of freedom of movement you'd get with maybe Scarlet Spider or Homemade Suit. You more or less have the same issues in the hip/girdle zone in that the legs can't go up that high.

My only two gripes are that they're (correctly) proportioned like kids and I find the heads narrower than they should be.

I am essentially a museum pose kind of guy so I don't care about poseability. The HC just looks more realistic to go with other MCU figures. I still have plenty of time to decide as the figure looks great.

This Spidey would look great with A1 Hulk and other figures with simple colour blocks and a more graphic look. Some of the busier, textured MCU stuff? Could look mismatched.
