More over, what are some examples of the head sculpts actually improving over the prototype rather than regressing? I know there's a few, but that's got to be a short list.

It's always funny seeing people say "It's just a prototype! The final will be different."

Yeah...no..Hot Toys has only had a drastic change from a prototype to final for like 1-2 figures, if at that. If the prototype doesn't look good, chances are the final isn't gonna be drastically different.

I wish they had gone for a more subtle evil smirk like below. Would have been so much better than what they went with.

Agreed. It is another way of saying this is 'not production'. This could be the best it looks, since its hand painted. You have to buy it assuming this is what you get. HT always shows their near best work for the prototype.

Those look really good, If they didn't give him a serious expression this would've been the next best thing, I still can't wrap my head around the goofy smile they went with, he looks like the love child of Chevy Chase and John Lennon lol, still I hope the final sculpt is an improvement in some way, I'm not the type to want something to suck, especially when I want to buy it, I wonder if they would even consider adding a second sculpt with a serious expression or selling one seperately because I've been seeing a lot of people ask for it.

I agree one should assume when placing a pre-order that what you see is what you get, but it does happen occasionally. Some notable mentions from last year whose final release was a completely different head than their prototype: Kylo Ren, Endgame Hulk, Endgame Captain Americas, and of course the despised Mark 85 Stark.

I know they don't have a great track record, but the criticism of this sculpt has been so universal that I can't imagine them NOT making some improvements to it. And they certainly have enough time.

Something else I'm not liking: "Four mechanical tentacles (equipped with bendable wire)..."

Bendable wire usually isn't long-lasting. Toys Era I thought pulled an ingenious move on theirs by making them individual ball/socket segments. You can make them shorter if you like as Doc's tentacles have a maximum/minimum length.

The only downside to TE's design is that it's a very tedious process to get the individual segments aligned so the mechanical tentacles look close to as smooth as they do on screen. So in terms of appearance HT's approach has a slight edge.

I've seen people comment on FB that the TE ball joints are loose and the tentacles sag/droop after they've been posed. I don't know what they're referring to, as mine are quite snug and haven't budged so much as a millimeter.

Sorry if anyone has already asked about this, but has anyone noticed that Sideshow is not offering payment plans for any of the Spider-Man: No Way Home Hot Toys figures?

Is that strange, or is that something that happens sometimes? I don't remember ever not having the option to pay over time with any of the Hot Toys figures.

They do that for all of the Sony releases at first. They don't charge an NRD when you place the order, but you can't set up on a payment plan. I believe though once it gets closer to the expected release date, they may open it up to switch to a payment plan.
