Sat down and finally watched the episodes available.

This show sucks.

It does indeed seem deliberate, and therefore that much more peculiar. In the second episode, he tells the mayor, "I'm not a bounty hunter" instead of saying, "I'm not a bounty hunter *anymore.*" That would've at least given some acknowledgment of a distinct shift/change from what OT Fett would've had to be like to the persona we now see in BoBF.

By leaving out the "anymore," it's almost as if Boba is having an identity crisis or can't remember who he was.

It looked to me like BOBA fett was trying to save face, standing there in his little armor.

Ah, okay. Thanks for pointing that out. Then maybe they'll actually build on that distinction and acknowledge how much of a difference there is between bounty hunter Fett and this version that we're seeing in BOBF.

Watching a character who is supposed to be the same guy as OT Fett playing "who's-a-good-boy?" with a Rancor makes a piece of me die inside, but if they actually justify it and make it worthwhile, then it'll at least be easier to tolerate.

And even the Rancor being described as "loving" might be a ploy, with Boba being set up by Danny Trejo who could still be a plant by the Hutts to get Fett mauled by that very same Rancor. If so, then bravo on not rebranding rancors!

I won't expect this show to get that much better, but hope to be proven wrong and pleasantly surprised. And one thing I can pretty much guarantee is that it won't get worse than Episode 3. It just can't.

It really is a completely new character. Bounty hunter to wild warrior man to crime lord. He actually is 3 characters now. You could say this is new, but Lucasfilm destroyed the other OT characters too.

I still don't buy him as a crime lord. He's without a doubt the worst crime lord I've ever heard of.

The fundamental mistake this show has made is telling the story from Boba’s POV. The EU novels never did that nor the comics. Nearly always told from the perspective of supporting characters or boba’s victims. We never knew what he was thinking or what he would do next. He was a closed book, mysterious.
